Since February, I’ve been expanding my web development skills through OK Coders, a six-month bootcamp by the Techlahoma Foundation. I’ve spent the first month refining my expertise in HTML and CSS, which served as a great refresher, and now we’re diving into a new world for me: JavaScript in Module 2 (month 2). The hands-on nature of this coursework is sharpening my technical abilities and enhancing my understanding, which has already led to more insightful and meaningful collaboration with my teammates and the development team I work with at Skvare. A big shoutout to Skvare's CEO, Gena Dellett, for her continued and sincere support in helping me grow my technical skills. She is an authentic and genuine human, who I appreciate in my corner. I’m also incredibly grateful that Skvare offers professional development support to help cover the expenses, and I'm equally grateful that Techlahoma Foundation and their sponsors offer this program at a fraction of the cost of comparable bootcamps making it possible for anyone interested to learn to code. I’m already applying new knowledge to create additional value in my role. Today’s session was especially impactful! Kimberly Collins shared her deep knowledge and long history of experiences in coding, development, her volunteerism for Techlahoma, and also her excitement and willingness to support other developers in the community. She emphasized the importance of networking and showcasing our growth not only to help ourselves, but to help grow and support the larger tech community. A huge thank you to our instructor, Bryan Rigsby, and ALL the mentors and volunteers for their time and guidance: Jonas Arroyo, Hannah Campbell, Derrick Young, Larry Lowenthal, Kaylee M., Shawna Pistole, and Hong (Jason) Newsom. It is beyond awesome that Techlahoma provides opportunities like this to help developers like me grow and expand our tech stack. I’m excited to see what’s next! #OKCoders #Techlahoma #CodingBootcamp #WebDevelopment #CareerGrowth #ProfessionalDevelopment #Skvare #ValueAdd

I cannot thank Dr. Cathy O'Neil (https://mathbabe.org/) for coming to speak! I suggest that everyone pick up a copy of her book, Weapons of Math Destruction, which provides a easy to digest explanation of how algorithms can unintentionally harm stakeholders - and how we can ask simple questions to change that. #ThankYou to Oklahoma Women in Technology (OKWIT), Techlahoma Foundation, OCU. #ThankYou to Emily Harden and Collin Walke
