Last month, Tech Dynamism attended the NCGFOA conference and TD was impressed by the turnout! Our team was grateful for the opportunity to connect with finance officers within local government. Highlights included discussing the implications of AI and sharing valuable insights into solving IT challenges within local government. The feedback we received was overwhelmingly positive, and appreciated the opportunity to strengthen existing relationships while even possibly creating new ones. It was exciting to see the incredible turnout for our AI In Local Gov Panel at VGFOA last week! The panel shared–specifically for Local Gov Finance teams–1) what AI is, 2) using AI in daily operations, 3) realities of implementing AI tools and 4) the future of AI. Our panelists showed how AI helps reconcile financial data issues, respond to real estate questions from constituents, and draft GFOA award submissions. In one example, a $1500 investment yielded $15,000 in savings in the first year alone. They also represented the different perspectives: IT prioritizes cybersecurity, Finance needs efficiencies, and Administrative Leadership look for cost savings. Cross-department alignment is necessary to find the win/win/win, and this sparked multiple questions and conversations after. From our live poll audience: 30% have never used AI; 50% use AI occasionally; 18% use AI regularly. After our panel, 100% said they learned something useful from it!
