One of my favorite things about the TECH CORPS Hackathon is that it feels like a homecoming! ?? Former students who are now pursuing degrees in Computer Science or Engineering return to join us as instructors, serving as incredible near-peer role models for current participants. And then there are alumni like Tyrone Johnson, who are making their mark in the tech industry and generously sharing their time, expertise, and inspiration with our students. Year after year, this event fills my heart with so much pride and joy. ?? This week, we celebrate National Apprenticeship Week! Did you know #Ohio ranks third in the nation and first in the Midwest for the number of apprentices, with over 23,000 enrolled in apprenticeship programs?? Lt. Governor Jon Husted put it best: “#Pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship programs are incredibly valuable because they offer an earn-while-you-learn model that benefits both employers and employees.” At TECH CORPS, we couldn’t agree more! This summer, we proudly launched two registered Pre-Apprenticeship programs for Central and Northeast #Ohio high school students. Here’s the best part: 100% of eligible students enrolled in our Student TECH CORPS and Student WEB CORPS programs earned their Pre-Apprenticeship certificate in the #IT career cluster! These students are now on a stronger path toward academic achievement and promising careers in technology. Looking ahead, TECH CORPS is committed to expanding these opportunities across Ohio, with a special focus on reaching students in rural communities.
