Learning. Connecting. Lifting up one another. We’re still jubilant after bringing together 500 energetic community members for our biggest-ever Women in Tech WNY, in partnership with our colleagues at 43North and Be in Buffalo. An inspiring collection of diverse and innovative women chose to “Be IN” by sharing their experiences and knowledge, empowering each other to make Western New York’s tech community even stronger. See and hear directly from those who attended about why this year’s Women in Tech WNY was “a win-win for all.” Thank you to title sponsor Rich Products Corporation; digital experience sponsor M&T Bank (M&T Tech); networking sponsors Amazon Web Services (AWS), MongoDB and ePlus inc.; workshop presenting sponsors Lighthouse Technology Services, Connolly Studios and OneBridge Benefits; and video sponsor Uplifter Video! I had a wonderful time again at this amazing event hosted by Women in Tech WNY, TechBuffalo, and other great organizations. The evening was filled with highlights, including learning about innovation at Amazon, AI for modeling human behaviors, and Venus Quates' inspiring journey. I also enjoyed spending time with the BestSelf informational systems team and connecting with friends. There was a lot to learn but I came home with two key takeaways: 1. Value calculated risk taking 2. Dream big. Your dreams are your destiny??

Seeing so many incredible reflections from yesterday’s Women in Tech WNY conference reminds us why we do this. Creating spaces for women in tech to innovate, inspire, and empower one another is what it’s all about. Huge thanks to Venus Quates for her powerful message on excellence and to everyone who joined us in learning from her.

If you’re a woman in tech or tech-adjacent in Buffalo, your LinkedIn feed today probably looks like it was in the early 2000s Facebook, with the same event, the same group pic, and a slightly different caption. And yes, I’m adding to the pile. I’m very intentional about which events I attend. My time is limited, I don’t have a big team, and my husband goes to the simulator on Thursdays, so, childcare. ??But I knew this was one I couldn’t miss. Keynote speaker Venus Quates, President & CEO of LaunchTech, reminded us what success really is: excellence. Period. Always give your best, personally and professionally, because no one should have anything less. I’m sure Oliver Hays will tell you I’m annoyingly meticulous about consistency. I will spot the dash that should have been a colon buried deep in a deck, and he will find the rogue extra space. But that’s because I’m both OCD and deeply grateful that businesses have chosen us as their PR firm. That gratitude means I will always strive to give my best. Some days will be off, and I’ll have to give myself grace. But settling for anything less than excellence is not an option. Period. Thanks for the great day TechBuffalo (and Joe Ray for answering my one million questions leading up to the event), and matching with Wendy Burns was an added bonus.

This is all I got for you guys, because I spent the entire conference being engaged in the moment. Such a cool event, truly a FEAT by Cydney Sanders. This was a massive growth opportunity for me and I’m so glad I took it. Thank you to Brian Connolly Connolly Studios for bringing me into a space where my marketing skills are not only valued but celebrated. To the entire TechBuffalo team for being innovative, inspiring and empowering Women in Tech WNY. And everyone who attended our workshop, I am so grateful for your presence and giving us an hour of your time and energy this afternoon ?? I am exhilirated and exhausted and will be spending the next 24-48 hours decompressing, but if you want to grab a coffee and continue talking marketing or explore some cool sh*t we could work on together, let’s connect soon!

Next week's Women in Tech WNY conference will be a powerful reminder that Western New York can become a hub of inclusive innovation if we all actively work together to acknowledge and solve the problem of representation in the workplace, but how we use this day of inspiration, connection and conversations to drive meaningful change will be even more important for our region.

Wilhelmina Godfrey’s impact on the Buffalo arts community is undeniable. This Thursday, Buffalo Center for Arts and Technology will host "The Search for Identity", an exhibition featuring paintings, prints, and fiber works from her estate, along with student projects inspired by her legacy while offering an exclusive first look at the new facility. Godfrey was not only a talented artist but also a dedicated advocate for community arts. She co-founded the Langston Hughes Center for the Visual and Performing Arts and worked to create opportunities for young artists.
