When I moved to Denver, I was introduced to many of the amazing cyber leaders we have here. I attended CISO dinners, Rocky Mountain Information Security Conference (RMISC), participated in CISO panels.... I met Rock Lambros - Rock was co-author of CISO Evolution. Rock and I have many similar interests, and so we connected on a deeper level over time. Today, Rock has his own consulting organization. In the past few years, I have been exposed to a lot of Rock's work. His book notwithstanding, I have followed his LinkedIn posts, his writings, his whitepapers, etc. This guy is a truly brilliant cybersecurity professional - and appears to excel with expertise around all the varying cybersecurity governance/regulatory issues. I just found one of this papers on AI. I won't share it because it may have been shared with just me - but it's over 200 pages of guidance for CISO's around AI. I read like 10 pages and I already learned 5 things I need to do! If you want a total guru in cyber, please reach out to Rock. He is a "Rock"-star.... ?? https://www.rockcyber.com/

This impressive growth, however, is met with a critical challenge – a significant shortage of skilled tech labor. ActivateWork is at the forefront of addressing this challenge by launching the Tech Talent Partnership. The partnership brings industry and workforce development partners together to: 1. Architect solutions to enhance education and training pathways towards key entry-level technology roles 2. Fuel the employer pipeline for these key roles 3. Empower a diverse talent pool throughout Colorado The partnership drives and connects the education to employment ecosystem and has assembled two primary stakeholder groups to approach this important work – an Industry Steering Committee and an Education Task Force. The future of workforce development hinges on one key factor:?data-driven decision-making. This insightful article by Maria Flynn and Jennifer Bell-Ellwanger at Work Shift highlights how better data can transform how we connect people to meaningful careers. It’s not just about job placement—it's about tracking outcomes, understanding skill gaps, and ensuring programs truly lead to economic mobility. At ActivateWork, we see firsthand how a data-driven approach changes lives, doubling average incomes with the first job attained. When employers, educators, and training providers align around measurable outcomes, we move from guesswork to impact. As the labor landscape evolves, it’s paramount that national leadership prioritize data-driven outcomes. Kudos to?Work Shift?for shedding light on such an important conversation. #WorkforceDevelopment #DataDrivenDecisions #EconomicMobility #SkillsBasedHiring
In Work Shift, Data Quality Campaign's CEO Jennifer Bell-Ellwanger and I outline 6 questions we encourage Senators to ask U.S. Department of Labor Secretary-Designee Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer at tomorrow's nomination hearing. We argue that the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, & Pensions should use their platform not just to elevate the importance of strengthening our nation’s workforce—but to specifically encourage the next Secretary to prioritize improvements in data collection, integration, and transparency. Last month, I had the honor of attending Governor Jared Polis' Black History Month celebration at the Colorado Governor’s Mansion. It was a beautiful gathering that highlighted the resilience, contributions, and brilliance of Black leaders, entrepreneurs, and changemakers across our state. It was honor to hear from Congressman Joe Neguse and Senator James Coleman on all of the incredible work being done in office and on the Congressional Black Caucus, to see trailblazers like Leslie Herod receive recognition for the many contributions they made while in office, and to run into old friends like Vernon Jones Jr. who is on the ground doing impactful work to benefit our communities. But let’s be clear—Black history isn’t just for February. Black excellence, Black businesses, and Black contributions deserve recognition and investment every single day of the year. As we move beyond the month of February, let’s continue to uplift and support Black entrepreneurs, artists, and visionaries. Let’s ensure that our appreciation isn’t performative but is reflected in our spending habits, collaborations, and the spaces we create. Who are some Black-owned businesses or initiatives that inspire you? Drop them in the comments—I’d love to support and amplify! ? #BlackHistoryEveryday #SupportBlackBusiness #ColoradoLeadership Techstars Workforce Development Accelerator | Dave Cass | David Cohen

"Every Second Counts"
"Every Second Counts" - a key maxim from The Bear, and also a sign on our CEO Brooke Hartley Moy's desk. On the latest episode of Ardan Labs podcast, she explains why this moment in tech is unprecedented: challenger players are emerging rapidly, even questioning Google's dominance. At #Infactory, we're exploiting the inherent advantages like speed and nimbleness that enable smaller companies to outmaneuver giants - amplified with the advent of GenAI. We're measuring progress in days and weeks, not quarters and years - making every second count. #AIStartup #Tech #FemaleFounder #BuildinPublic #AIWithoutTheMaybe

A few weeks ago, our team and partners at the Apprenticeship Hub at Arapahoe/Douglas Works! were at the the Enhancing Education in Corrections Conference at Colorado State University Pueblo. We showcased our collaboration with the Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC) in developing Registered Apprenticeship pathways that create meaningful career opportunities for justice-involved individuals. These programs are designed to support successful transitions and long-term career success post-release. The high demand for these apprenticeship programs among currently incarcerated individuals speaks volumes about their effectiveness and the commitment CDOC has to creating opportunities. We're proud to be part of this transformative initiative that's changing lives through skills training and career development. #COApprenticeship #apprenticeshipswork #ApprenticeshipUSA
