As we recognize March as Women's History Month here are just a few: 1.?Marie Van Brittan Brown – Inventor of the First Home Security System (1966) Invention:?Early?closed-circuit television (CCTV)?home surveillance system with peepholes, camera, and remote unlock. Impact:?Her patented invention laid the groundwork for?modern home and commercial surveillance systems, and inspired the design of today’s smart security tech (e.g., Ring, Nest). 2.?Dr. Ann Cavoukian – Creator of Privacy by Design Framework Invention:?The?Privacy by Design?framework, which integrates privacy protections directly into physical and digital systems from the start. Impact:?While rooted in data privacy, this concept deeply influences?physical security architecture, especially in surveillance, biometric access control, and smart building design. It’s now a standard in global regulatory frameworks like GDPR. 3.?Edith Clarke – First Female Electrical Engineer & Grid Security Pioneer Invention:?Developed early?power grid modeling tools?using her "Clarke calculator" to analyze electrical current stability. Impact:?Her innovations are foundational in protecting the?physical infrastructure of the electrical grid, now considered a core part of critical security systems (including physical access and surveillance systems dependent on power networks). 4.?Dr. Dorothy Denning – Intrusion Detection Concepts (Extended to Physical Security) Invention:?Though primarily known for her work in cyber, her theories on?intrusion detection?and threat modeling have been adapted to?physical intrusion detection systems (PIDS)?like motion sensors and smart access control. Impact:?Helped develop the early architecture of?automated physical threat detection systems, which now integrate with AI and video analytics. We are pleased to announce that Craig Russell has joined TSi as Director of International Operations. For years, U.S. based clients have encouraged TSi to expand services beyond the United States. While those requests were previously met with caution to ensure the highest standards of success and service, shifting market conditions and improved timing now make global expansion a reality for TSi. Through strong partnerships, TSi is now fully equipped to offer F.O.C.U.S.? services internationally and intends to do just that. To facilitate this, we have hired one of the best in the industry to navigate the opportunities and challenges associated with this growth. "TSi has always prioritized customer service as our core business value. Because of this we have slow-walked our expansion to international markets," said Darryl Keeler, Owner and CEO of TSi. "Through careful planning and partnerships, we are now in a position to spread the F.O.C.U.S.? philosophy of fanatical customer service around the world. With 23 years of experience in the security industry, including 13 years specializing in global integrations, Craig brings extensive knowledge to his new role. As a former Microsoft Global Security Consultant for LATAM, he managed security operations across multiple countries. He later served as Director of Global Accounts, overseeing the development of global operations and processes for U.S. based clients. His strong engineering background in electronic security operations and processes adds a valuable layer of technical and strategic expertise to TSi’s global initiatives.
