We are excited to have Sumaya join us at Tech Africa. Sumaya has previously supported us in the delivery of Digital skills trainings as an external facilitator and having her commit to join us fully for the next 2 months is something we cannot take for granted. Recently, I had an opportunity to feature on August’s #EdTechMondaysUganda on NTV uganda. EdTech Mondays is a monthly show that airs on the last Monday of each month. This program aims to promote the use of technology to advance education in Uganda. I was so happy sharing a panel with these amazing leaders while sharing our experiences digital literacy and I ntegration of technology in education policies. My highlight on the show was having the opportunity to share with the audience about our work at TECH REACH AFRICA with focus on how we are using our mobile computer labs to train and equip rural learners and teachers with hands on digital skills. Missed? You can catch the conversation through this link https://bit.ly/3Z6ETBp

Over the next few weeks, TECH REACH AFRICA will be launching an exciting project in Danida which will focus on equipping Parents & community leaders with computer skills.?? We believe that once such stakeholders understand the potential that ICT has in promoting access to academic information and employment opportunities, they will put more efforts in advocating for ICT programs and structures in their community schools.?? #Digitalliteracy #digitalskillsfordevelopment

We are celebrating the international Youth day 2024 at the Busoga Regional Youth Symposium organized by the Institution of #Busoga Kingdom. I had the opportunity to speak to the attendees of this event and expressed our gratitude to the institutions and individuals who have invested in initiatives that promote access to digital literacy across local communities. In a special way, we are grateful for those who support Tech Reach Africa’s work especially on the #ICT4Education project that is ensuring access to digital literacy among teachers and learners in rural schools. Did you know? This year’s theme: From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development speaks directly into what we do at TECH REACH AFRICA. #digitalliteracy #IYD2024

With the Coordination of our facilitators at LSU Office of Global Engagement, we had the opportunity to visit East Baton Rouge Parish Library System - Main Library and shared stories from our respective countries with the children in attendance. Later in the afternoon, we had a learning visit at The Baton Rouge Youth Coalition (BRYC), it was great learning about their story of growth and impact in this community of Baton Rouge. #MandelaFellows #MWFCelebrates10 #ExchangeAlumni - Alumni Affairs - State Dept. On Saturday, we made a visit to the Whitney Plantation in Louisiana, we delved into a powerful & sobering history. Originally known as Habitation Heidel, the plantation was established in 1752 by German immigrant Ambroise Heidel relying on the expertise of approximately 20 enslaved Africans for successful crops. As the founder of TECH REACH AFRICA, I couldn’t help but draw parallels. Just as the Whitney Plantation evolved, Tech Reach Africa(formerly #ICT4Education) adapts to empower rural communities in Uganda through digital literacy. Leadership is acknowledging history, learning from it, & working toward positive change. We honor the resilience of great great great grand people who endured unimaginable hardships while striving for a better future. Notably, Africa’s history is rich & complex, shaped by both triumphs and tragedies. Our work at Tech Reach Africa echoes the spirit of resilience that runs through the continent. Children who get quality early childhood care and education before they turn 5, are more likely to reach the minimum competencies in reading and math by the end of primary school. Investing in early childhood education matters not only for young learners, but also for countries' overall development! #FundEducation
