关于我们
Tech Matters is a nonprofit strategic technology organization, founded by Jim Fruchterman, serial social entrepreneur. We create and launch new tech for good platforms in partnership with entire fields in the nonprofit and social good sector. Our two largest projects are the Aselo crisis response platform and the Terraso integrated landscape management platform. We also are in constant connection with nonprofit leaders, donors, policymakers and company leaders around applying technology for social impact. We help power systems change by bringing great technology capabilities to organizations moving the needle on a major social problem.

When nonprofits start talking to us about putting significant funds into crypto-currency solutions (like DAOs), we caution them about the challenges of putting a bucket of money onto something connected to the internet. There have been a steady stream of hacks. The easy solution is for nonprofits to avoid using crypto for this application. Regular old financial institutions are susceptible to fraud and hacking (Zelle, anyone?), but there are protections.

???????????? ???????????????????? ???????????????????? ???????? ???? ???? ?????????? ???????????????? Because doing #techforgood well is challenging (especially AI in program), we love it when people highlight nonprofits doing it well. This excellent piece from the Agency Fund does a great job of explaining exciting work from a handful of nonprofits with highly capable tech teams.

Congratulations to our board chair, Nithya Ramanathan for being celebrated this month by Fast Forward !
Today, we’re spotlighting three women founders who are making healthcare more accessible. Nithya Ramanathan (Nexleaf Analytics) is using data and sensor tech to address medical equipment failures and save lives. Gemma Turon (Ersilia) is breaking down barriers in drug discovery, using AI to make treatments for neglected diseases more accessible. Edith Elliott (Noora Health) is rethinking patient care — training families as caregivers to reduce hospital readmissions and strengthen health systems. The future of health is in good hands. ?????????????????? ???? ??????????????????! We are in the middle of working on our lightweight data governance initiative, the ???????????? ???????? ?????? ????????. One of the first things we set out to do was to apply these principles to one of our own projects, Terraso. In Silicon Valley, this approach is commonly called "dogfooding!" Our very own Steve Francis wrote this up:

This is a signal of things to come. AI training has long depended on vacuuming up the data produced by humans. Here's an example of AI training making work for humans valiantly trying to maintain open source projects! #techfornotgood

???????? ???? ?????????? (7X edition)! Jim Fruchterman, CEO I'll be heading back to Davos next week for the World Economic Forum's annual giant meeting. It's my seventh time, but it's been more than a decade since my last visit. The side events are amazing: that's a much bigger deal than the parties of the past. I think I'm spending as much time at side events than I am inside the vaunted halls of the Congress Centre there. My biggest highlight is speaking on a panel with rockstars like @Vilas Dhar, @Frank McCourt, and @Jon Clifton about the ???????????? ???? ????????. I am really looking forward to that one. The Schwab Foundation (the people behind the WEF) put the social entrepreneurs up in the Schatzalp, the storied hotel of ?????????? ???????????????? literary fame. You take a funicular railway up the hill to get there (you can't drive to it in practice). For me, hanging out with my peers at the top of the mountain overlooking Davos has always been the best part of the event. Looking forward to sharing any cool social innovation stories (or #techforgood ones) I spot next week.
