Meet Audy Sanchez, a mission engineer in #NUWCDivisionNewport’s Undersea Warfare Engineering and Analysis Department, who continues our new professional series. Audy is originally from Worcester, Massachusetts, and received a bachelor’s and master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in 2017 and 2020. He began his career at Division Newport in July 2020. In his current role as a mission engineer, Audy supports the fleet with mission level analysis and engineering for fleet products and decisions using Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices. A long-term goal of Audy’s is to become a subject matter expert in MBSE. What Audy likes most about his job is the variety that each day brings. “There is always something new to tackle and gain more and more experience from,” Audy said. “The Undersea Warfare Engineering and Analysis Department handles a lot of analysis and engineering problems that tackle the fleet’s needs/concerns so there is always something new to learn.” His favorite part about working at Division Newport is meeting people within his own and other departments. “Everyone is so knowledgeable at what they do and are willing to share their knowledge with you,” he said. Audy’s role model is his mom. “She is my role model because of her resiliency,” Audy said. “When life gets rough, she will work hard and push through it because she never loses sight of hope.” He advises new hires to be proactive about goals and gather the courage to speak up for what they want. #WhatWeDoMatters #underseasuperiority
