?? Celebrating Women and Girls in Science ?????? At Tecam, we recognize the invaluable contributions of women in science and engineering. On 11th February, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, we want to appreciate the professionalism, know-how and leadership of brilliant women in the environmental technology and engineering fields all over the world. Women continue to drive innovation in emissions abatement, waste valorization and industrial sustainability. Their expertise and dedication create cleaner industries and a greener future. On this festive occasion, we’ve interviewed Blanca Izquierdo, one of our talented Engineering colleagues to learn more about her experience in this field: 1?- What inspired you to pursue a career in engineering? - Since I was a child, I was very curious about how things worked and what they were made of. This later led me to become interested in chemistry and biology. I ended up studying a Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology and a Master's in Chemical Engineering. 2?- Who has inspired you the most in your engineering journey? - My mother—she always instilled in me a thirst for knowledge and encouraged me to achieve my goals and aspirations. Other women who currently inspire me include molecular biologist and astronaut Sara Alonso and other colleagues in the profession who have become friends. 3?- What advice would you give to young girls considering a career in science and technology? - To always keep their enthusiasm and their drive to create a better world through science and technology, because they are essential to making that happen. 4?- What excites you most about working in environmental technology? - Being able to contribute to a more sustainable industry, thereby driving real change on the planet. I also find it fascinating how different disciplines beyond science and engineering—such as politics and business—are involved. 5?- What’s one project at Tecam that you’re particularly proud of? - Although we specialize in technology for emissions and waste treatment, no two projects are the same. I would highlight those with highly demanding client specifications, as they present a constant challenge throughout the project’s lifecycle. These projects help build our know-how, allowing us to improve as a company and grow as professionals.
