Introducing SJSOs newest K9 Team, K9 Merica and Deputy Wright! ?? K9 Merica is a 2-year-old yellow lab certified in explosive detection. Her first big assignment was assisting with security at the Daytona 500 race in February. Deputy Wright’s last partner, K9 Judge, retired in August 2024. Judge is enjoying his time at home with family and having another dog in the house. #teamsjso

?????????????? ?? ???? ???????? ???????????????? ???? ????????! In this episode, Madison Schemitz joins Sheriff Hardwick and Lt. George Harrigan for a discussion on bravery and resilience. On June 3, 2023, Madison was stabbed 17 times by her ex-boyfriend at a Ponte Vedra Beach restaurant. Her mother and a bystander were also injured. The attack left Madison paralyzed, facing a life changing journey ahead. After the attack, she spent weeks in the hospital, followed by hours of physical and occupational therapy to regain her strength. Despite all odds, she walked across the stage at her high school graduation and has gotten back on the field hitting softballs again. In this episode, Madison talks about her family and friends, how their support has kept her positive, and a quote she lives by 'If you're going through hell, keep going.' #TeamSJSO had a blast at THE PLAYERS Championship! 190 personnel were on the grounds throughout the week. SJSO handled 220 total calls for service.

On Monday, while out on a call for service, Major Crimes Detective Cheyenne Kroul met Preston, a boy whose dream is to be a detective! Preston asked her all kinds of questions about the job. After their conversation, he took home SJSO stickers and swag. Thank you Preston! #TeamSJSO

On March 15, 2025, SJSO deputies, including the air unit, located a vehicle in the parking lot of Durbin Pavilion that was associated with a missing 16-year-old female from Texas and a male suspect with Texas warrants for 5 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The vehicle fled and deputies quickly executed a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver which ended the pursuit. The driver, Jesus Esteban Arellano (19), was taken into custody and the missing juvenile was safely recovered. In addition to his warrants out of Texas, Arellano was charged by deputies with fleeing/eluding law enforcement, giving a false name, and driving without a DL (never had one issued).

Congratulations to SJSO Intelligence Analyst Shantavia Allen on her graduation from the Florida Law Enforcement Analyst Academy (FLEAA) in Tallahassee. Intelligence Analysts learn skills used by law enforcement to assist in investigations and prevent crime. The six week academy provides challenging hands-on training. Since Allen successfully completed the academy, she is now recognized as a Florida-Certified Law Enforcement Analyst. #teamsjso
