It's always an honor to work with partners to support and strengthen resilience in vulnerable communities!
Hurricane Helene made it devastatingly clear that inland riverine flooding is a growing threat that can upend communities and livelihoods in an instant. With limited insurance options and delayed federal or donor-led disaster funding, flood-impacted communities often struggle to rebuild quickly, support the most vulnerable households, and maintain continuity of public services. Floodbase and our partners, Raincoat, are excited to announce that we have been selected by RISE Resilience Innovations as a winner of the Riverine Community Resilience Challenge to work closely with local community leaders in southwest Virginia to design and develop community-based flood insurance programs. Floodbase and Raincoat will partner to build a program that sets measurable, data-driven thresholds to trigger immediate payouts to local partners when riverine flooding reaches a certain magnitude. In doing so we will change the trajectory of flood recovery for vulnerable communities. Learn more about the challenge here: https://lnkd.in/eEruhjKS
