?? March is Bleeding Disorders Awareness Month (BDAM). Bleeding disorders, such as hemophilia, von Willebrand disease, and other clotting conditions, affect thousands of individuals and employees, many of whom navigate daily challenges that may not be immediately visible. As HR professionals, awareness of these conditions can help us create work environments that are supportive and inclusive for employees managing chronic health needs. HR Considerations for Supporting Employees with Chronic Conditions: ?? Workplace Flexibility – Consider how flexible work arrangements or leave policies may help employees balance medical needs and job responsibilities. ?? Health Benefits & Resources – Review available benefits to ensure employees have access to necessary treatments and support. ?? Fostering Awareness – Providing general education on invisible illnesses can help build a more informed and understanding workplace culture. ?? Open Communication – Encouraging an environment where employees feel comfortable discussing workplace needs can enhance engagement and retention. HR professionals seeking to enhance their understanding of bleeding disorders and their impact in the workplace can explore the following resources: -Job Accommodation Network (JAN): Offers guidance on employee accomodations, including practical tips and best practices for HR professionals.? -National Hemophilia Foundation (NHF): Offers comprehensive information, including guidelines and resources that can aid in creating supportive workplace environments. -World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH): Provides detailed insights into different bleeding disorders, their management, and considerations for affected individuals. ?? Building a Supportive Workplace Recognizing BDAM is an opportunity to reflect on how workplace policies and culture can accommodate employees with health conditions. Small considerations can make a meaningful impact on employee experience and well-being. #BDAM #InclusiveWorkplaces #EmployeeWellBeing #HRInsights #HRACC
