It's not often that we get to go back and see a 21,000 ft deck we installed, but the team is back on the legendary USS ALABAMA Battleship Memorial Park to discuss a subject very close to our hearts - the importance of a good deck maintenance programme. A well maintained deck will last 20 to 25 years, and we have even been on boats where we installed the previous deck to discover they still had the original TDS SIS440 caulking we installed 20 years ago. The next phase of the new deck installation aboard the USS IOWA BATTLESHIP MEMORIAL, INC. continues. Our team working alongside the #Herculan crew, has been making steady progress. They have been leveling out dips in the 80 year old steel deck to prepare for the new deck install. Just getting all the material up to 01 level of the ship took 8 hours, highlighting the scale and complexity of working on a vessel of this size. Work continues, and we are all proud to contribute to the restoration of this historic battleship. Christopher Hughes has joined us as Director of Manufacturing. With nearly two decades of experience in manufacturing operations, Chris brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to TDS. Prior to joining the company, Chris served in various key roles at Marine Concepts/Design Concepts, and throughout his tenure successfully managed multiple facilities and oversaw a workforce of 400 employees. His expertise in process controls, employee engagement, cross-training, preventative maintenance, and equipment optimization will be instrumental in driving operational efficiency. We will bring together friends, family, co-workers, and any others whose lives were touched by this kind and generous man who gave many of the TDS team a stable place to work, a retirement and scholarships for their children to attain a higher education.
