Sharing our framework for creating award winning experiential exercises at the USASBE- United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship Doctoral Consortium has been a truly rewarding experience. There’s no secret sauce, just a “simple” but proven framework that has consistently brought our exercises to the award podium, including this year once again. A warm thank you to Susana Correia Santos and Andrew Corbett for the invitation!

Normalizing failure encourages a growth mindset. Get these slides! Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw has faced her fair share of failure: 1?? ?????????????????? ???????? ?????? ?????????????? ???????????????? Initially trained as a brewmaster, she was told that brewing was not a "woman's job," forcing her to pivot her career path. 2?? ???????? ?????????????? ???????????????? ?????????? ?????????????? Biocon invested heavily in developing an oral insulin drug but it failed to achieve the necessary outcomes during clinical trial and delivered a significant blow to the company's research and development efforts. For context, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw is an Indian entrepreneur and the founder of Biocon Limited and Biocon Biologics Limited, biotechnology companies based in Bangalore, India. She is known for her pioneering work in the biopharmaceutical sector. Classroom lectures are dying a slow death. But hands-on learning isn't killing them. Students are demanding real-world experience now. Here's what experiential learning does: ? Bridges theory and practice instantly ? Builds job-ready skills from day one ? Creates confident problem-solvers ? Makes learning stick quickly Traditional teaching misses these benefits. Our students deserve better preparation. Want to transform your teaching approach? Start with one hands-on project this week. Let your students learn by doing. Theory teaches. Experience transforms. P.S. What's your favorite hands-on activity to teach?

AI won't replace great teachers. It WILL replace those who resist change. Let me explain why adapting matters more than ever. ? AI shares info, but you shape character ? AI can analyze data, but can't build trust ? AI assists learning, but you guide growth ? AI gives answers, but you spark curiosity ? AI tracks progress, but you celebrate wins Your role? Be the coach AI can't replace. Your mission? Help students navigate both worlds. Your impact? Create future-ready learners. The future of education isn't AI vs. teachers. It's AI + teachers = unlimited potential. Remember: Technology changes constantly. Human connection is timeless. P.S. What's one thing AI can't replace in your classroom?

For those #teaching #entrepreneurship We’re doing it all wrong. What are we missing? I'm glad you asked ?? I've spent 15 years experimenting. And I think I figured something out. 1?? We’re missing humanity in our pedagogy. The foundation of an entrepreneurial mindset and an entrepreneurial skill set is human skills: ? Caring ? Empathy ? Gratitude ? Reflection ? Appreciation ? Heroic humility These are the bedrock of sustainable, meaningful entrepreneurial ventures. ----------------- 2?? We’re missing a career-focus in our pedagogy. Students hire our schools (and therefore us) To get a job after graduation. Create real-world learning experiences with challenging multi-term projects during which we can coach them to: ? Experiment ? Do no harm ? Be adaptable ? Ask better questions ? Challenge assumptions ? Build relationships of trust ? Follow their innate curiosity ? Grapple with power & privilege ? Access and sustain positive emotions ? Stay engaged in the midst of uncertainty ----------------- 3?? We’re missing mastery in our pedagogy. Students start as a Novice. They identify a purpose and move to an Apprentice. They build significant knowledge/skill as a Wanderer. They achieve high mastery and purpose as a Prodigy. ----------------- We stand at a pivotal moment. ? Let's measure success in the richness of human experience and societal contribution. ? Let’s empower our students to align their values with professional pursuits, creating a future where business is a force for good. Uninspired curriculum kills student dreams. Fixing it is simpler than you think. Your students need motivation, not information. Here are 3 ways to spark imagination today: 1?? Replace textbook cases with real stories. ? Show them what's possible in their field. 2?? Add project-based assignments. ? Let them create their own solutions. 3?? Bring in industry experts. ? Connect theory to real opportunities. 4?? Give them space to fail forward. ? Build resilience and innovation. 5?? Reward creative thinking. ? Encourage out-of-the-box solutions. Transform your classroom into an innovation hub. Knowledge fills minds. Dreams fill futures. P.S. What's one way you make your lessons more inspiring?
