    Teach For America?is proud to be a data-driven organization, and we're grateful to have access to research that strengthens and evolves our work.?This year, we partnered with the American Institutes for Research?to conduct a meta-analysis of the effects TFA teachers have on student achievement.?This?tells us that?TFA teachers have had a consistent and significant impact on students’ learning, and affirms?that the impact our corps members and alumni teachers are having in our communities is not isolated to any one context or single study. The analysis included 23 studies of TFA’s impact spanning 24 years—including 63,134 teachers and over 5 million students—and found: -On average, students of TFA teachers perform better in?math?than those of similar non-TFA teachers. -On average, students of TFA teachers perform better in?science?than those of similar non-TFA teachers. -On average, students of TFA teachers perform similarly in?reading?to those of similar non-TFA teachers. ?     “Sharing our Lakota lifeways in the classroom plays a crucial role in preserving the stories and traditions of my community for future generations.” - Shawnta’ Jones (Hawaii ’18), Director of School Design and Curriculum at Thunder Valley CDC located on Oglala Lakota makoce (land.) This Native Heritage Month, we’re honoring Native educators like Shawnta’ (Oglala Lakota), whose work is dedicated to preserving Native legacy through education. Shawnta’ shares, “It is our responsibility to reclaim our traditional teachings and develop education on our own terms.” Through the Lakota Language and Education Initiative at Thunder Valley, she creates a learning space that uplifts Lakota philosophy, fosters inclusivity, and empowers students to embrace their unique voices. By rooting students in their heritage, Shawnta’ and her team build a foundation of belonging, challenging stereotypes and cultivating understanding for future generations. #NativeHeritageMonth #TeachForAmerica

    This Veterans Day, we recognize the powerful intersection of service and education—a bond that shapes leaders, strengthens communities, and extends beyond the classroom or the battlefield. For Alexander M. Clark (San Antonio ’12), a TFA alumni whose life reflects both, this dedication to service began by example. Inspired by his grandfather’s 26 years of military service, Alexander almost enlisted right out of high school. However, his grandfather underscored the importance of education and encouraged him to go to college first. After college, Alexander joined Teach For America, dedicating himself to third-grade students in San Antonio. His TFA experience fueled a deeper commitment to service, leading him to enlist in the Air Force Reserve as an intelligence analyst. Later, with support from his TFA network, Alexander pursued law school, co-founding the Texas Law Veterans Association to support veterans on campus. Today, Alexander carries forward the values instilled in him by both his grandfather and his mentors: teamwork, mission, and service beyond self. His journey reminds us that serving others—whether in the classroom or military—is a calling that lasts a lifetime. To all who served and are currently serving, we thank you. #VeteransDay

    “Growing up in a low-income, immigrant-dominated school district and then moving on to a predominantly white institution opened my eyes to the disparity in the educational system and how much zip codes affect a student's education,” said Pamela Hernandez, an Ignite Fellow who is now joining the TFA corps. As an Ignite Fellow, Pamela tutored two to four students, received ongoing training and development from TFA and veteran educators, and received a stipend upon completing the fellowship. “The Ignite Fellowship offered an incredible opportunity to make a meaningful impact in students' lives while furthering my professional growth,” Pamela said. https://lnkd.in/eBuNvZJc
