Some of CiPPPA’s members recently attended the Pharma Sustainability Integrates 2025 event, hosted by Life Science Integrates at AstraZeneca's Discovery Centre in Cambridge. The event addressed sustainability challenges in the pharmaceutical industry, with a particular emphasis on circularity in healthcare. Discussions centred on evolving stakeholder expectations and innovative technologies to reduce carbon footprints across pharmaceutical supply chains. ? CiPPPA's presence at the event underlined the importance of collaborative solutions in driving industry innovation. Maryam A. Babba, Ph.D., Project Lead for CiPPPA, engaged with attendees at CiPPPA's stand, providing information about the various Task Forces and their efforts to promote circularity in packaging. CiPPPA Chairman, Duncan Flack, chaired a panel session on circularity in healthcare, where industry experts explored the potential of combining high-tech innovations with behaviour-driven solutions to address recycling challenges. ? The event was a great platform to showcase CiPPPA's role in fostering sustainable practices within the pharmaceutical industry and demonstrated the initiative's commitment to driving positive change through collaborative efforts in packaging circularity. ? If you would like to find out more about CiPPPA or discuss collaborative solutions for driving circularity in packaging, please get in touch. ? The Impact Facility, TDi's sister organisation, co-hosted a convening with Entreprise Générale du Cobalt (EGC) at The Rockefeller Foundation's Bellagio Center from 24-28 February, 2025. The event examined strategies for transforming the DRC's artisanal copper-cobalt sector. Participants from various sectors, including government, finance, and industry, discussed approaches to responsible sourcing and community prosperity. TDi's CEO Assheton Stewart Carter took part in the meeting in his role as Founder and Chief Investment Officer with The Impact Facility. We look forward to seeing the results of the commitments that were made at the gathering and to hearing more about the resulting action at upcoming events including the OECD Forum on Responsible Mineral Supply Chains in May. #SustainableMining #ResponsibleSourcing #DRC #CobaltSector?
Last week, The Impact Facility, together with Entreprise Générale du Cobalt (EGC), co-hosted a convening at The Rockefeller Foundation’s Bellagio Center—bringing together a diverse group of stakeholders - including the DRC government, financial institutions, and commodity traders - to explore how the country’s vast artisanal copper-cobalt wealth can be transformed into sustainable community prosperity. This convening was among a select few chosen from over 600 applications, the critical importance of this dialogue in the global drive for responsible mineral sourcing and a just energy transition. ?? Why This Matters Artisanal cobalt mining in the DRC provides direct employment to 150,000–250,000 miners and supports over a million livelihoods. However, despite ongoing efforts, much of the sector remains informal, unsafe, and lacking robust governance. With cobalt being essential to the global battery supply chain, ensuring responsible production and sourcing isn’t just a local necessity—it’s a global responsibility. ?? Key Outcomes Over three days, participants? laid the groundwork for a responsible and scalable ASM sector, focusing on how to : ? Strengthen governance through inter-agency coordination and policy alignment ? Scale responsible ASM business models to ensure both economic viability & ESG compliance ? Mobilise financing for ASM formalisation, unlocking new investment opportunities ? Drivie demand for responsibly sourced ASM cobalt within global supply chains ?? The Road Ahead This convening wasn’t just about discussions—it led to tangible commitments that will drive action throughout 2025. Key milestones will be shared at OECD Forum on Responsible Mineral Supply Chains, DRC Mining Week, and EU Raw Materials Week. ?? Want to learn more? Read the full blog here: https://lnkd.in/dECz_rK4 We extend our sincere gratitude to The Rockefeller Foundation and The Bellagio Center for hosting this critical dialogue, and to all participants—both in-person and online—for their dedication to drive continuous progress. #ResponsibleCobalt #ASM #SustainableMining #EnergyTransition #BellagioConvening Photo credit: The Bellagio Centre

It's great to see the Solar Stewardship Initiative (SSI)'s Traceability Standard featured alongside other key standards in the OECD - OCDE and International Energy Agency (IEA) report on 'The Role of Traceability in Critical Mineral Supply Chains'. The inclusion of the SSI in this report provides recognition of the its approach in setting clear traceability requirements for the solar sector. Working towards greater transparency in critical mineral supply chains is critical to ensure that the benefits of the clean energy transition are equitably distributed and environmental and social risks are identified and mitigated. TDi is proud to be part of the SSI’s permanent secretariat, which is responsible for the day-to-day management and implementation of the SSI. Please get in touch if you'd like more information on the SSI, or how TDi can help you understand and manage the risks in your supply chains. Julija Menise Clara Segón Rajalakshmi G
Ensuring transparency in global supply chains is more critical than ever. The latest OECD Publications and International Energy Agency (IEA) report, "The Role of Traceability in Critical Mineral Supply Chains", evaluates the robustness of existing chain of custody standards and highlights the role of traceability in responsible sourcing. We are proud to see the Solar Stewardship Initiative (SSI) Supply Chain Traceability Standard featured alongside other key standards in this global assessment. The report recognises SSI’s approach in setting clear traceability requirements for the solar sector, ensuring materials are responsibly sourced and independently verified. ?? At the SSI, our goal is to establish an unbroken Chain of Custody across the entire solar value chain, from quartzite mining to module production. By complementing our ESG Standard with dedicated traceability mechanisms, we enable solar manufacturers to demonstrate compliance with the highest sustainability and transparency standards. As supply chain regulations evolve, SSI remains committed to strengthening ESG accountability and advancing a responsible solar industry. Check the full report: https://lnkd.in/gKB8WS4D

After much speculation, the EU Commission’s proposed omnibus changes to the CSRD, CSDDD and EU Taxonomy have now been announced. The results of the Commission’s review are a significant rollback on the EU’s leadership on sustainability issues globally, rather than just a streamlining of reporting obligations, as had been suggested. Set against a general global push toward deregulation, what do these fundamental alterations to the cornerstones of the EU Green Deal mean for due diligence and sustainability in business?? In our latest blog, the TDi team consider the key changes proposed in the omnibus package and examine why sustainability not only still matters but is essential to long-term business productivity and resilience.
