Congratulations to Beta Bionics! A game changer for millions! After 25 years with Medtronic, my wife is making the switch to the iLet, the first and only fully automatic pancreas. Due to many issues over the last decade with Medtronic, we have been diligently watching the market for better options. A diabetic emergency landed her in the emergency room last month, followed by a week of touch and go with her life. This, along with poor customer service from Medtronic, motivated us to move to the iLet. My wife, like many Tyoe 1 diabetics, is active. She has 24 second graders depending on her each and every day. Her primary care MD is also very enthusiastic about this change. He has already had two patients that have seen dramatic improvement in their health, energy and quality of life. A handy thought for a Monday!

A shout out to the Ohio Society for Post-Acute and Long Term Care Medicine (OMDA) for a well ran conference this week! I had the pleasure of meeting several doctors who have dedicated their careers to helping Buckeye seniors lead their best lives. Dementia & iPhones: 7 tips I just went through the process of upgrading my Mom’s iPhone from the iPhone 6 to the iPhone 14X. IKR!? Huge leap in tech. Also a huge leap in potential confusion, heightened anxiety and poses added safety risks. To mitigate the potential issues with Mom, I leveraged the phone upgrade so I could “stage” the phone to meet her unique needs. 1. Simplified the Home Screen to include ONLY the apps Mom utilizes. I pushed all other apps which she might use in the future to a folder a swipe away from the Home Screen to “bury” them slightly. 2. Due to her bipolar, early dementia and history, I removed all ability to purchase anything via her new iPhone. This keeps her on budget, ensures cash flows through me (POA) and keeps her safe from scams. 3. Created a new AppleID. She had lost her password to her old ID and her heavily spammed email is causing issues (see #4), so I created a new AppleID which also gave me full access to manage digital and financial threats. 4. Created a new email account. I recommend this to anyone whose current email is filled with spam and old business. It also helps me keep an eye out for scammers while eliminating any current scammers from reaching her going further. Complete this step before creating a new AppleID. I recommend a gmail account. 5. Set the accessibility settings to her needs. 6. Set her favorites in contacts up for quick access to her family. Mom is almost deaf, so I set those up as messaging only. 7. Last but not least, I set up tracking. My hope is this post helps any of my connections better navigate iPhone upgrades for loved ?? ones with Dementia or loved ones who are tech challenged. Happy September LI Framily! If you have kids or grandkids who express an interest in entrepreneurship or corporate sales/marketing. Here are my 2 decade and aging nuggets of wisdom. Most of it learned the hard way by slamming right into the wall. My hope is this post may help another right-brained, “talks too much in class” human like me avoid the wall. A consultative, educational, genuinely conversational approach is THE only way to sell. Never, ever, ever let any manager or CEO tell you otherwise. They are wrong. If the product or service relies on gimmicks or dishonesty to succeed, RUN ??, don’t walk, run away and find one that has a moral compass you can live with. There are millions to choose from. Know thy Customer! You will only sell what humans buy, if you can see the world ?? through their eyes. Listen more than you talk. Stay humble, stay hungry, stay transparent stay focused and most of all, stay honest. It’s takes years to build a career and seconds to wreck it. Warren Buffett said that. Love ?? & Respect!
