In order to study the effects of microplastics on humans, researchers needed a control group for comparison. However, they couldn’t find any humans without microplastics in their systems. Actually, they couldn’t find any animals without microplastics in their systems… 😳 After extensive searching, they managed to identify just one animal species that appeared to be free of them… New research has found that microplastics are present in nearly every kind of small animal, except one: the tardigrade, or "water bear." This study highlights the pervasive presence of microplastics in ecosystems and raises concerns about their impact on species diversity and abundance. It's a reminder of the critical need for addressing plastic pollution at all levels. At Tayst Coffee, we’re proud to be making a difference.
