*Case of the week* Species : Cat Breed: Domestic Short Hair (DSH) Gender: Female (Spayed) Age: 12 years Weight : 4 kgs History: Patient originally seen for ADR 11/2/24, now still not eating. Radiologist's Findings: 4 radiographs of the thorax/abdomen are available for interpretation. In the thorax, a round soft tissue opaque mass measuring 1.8 cm in diameter is identified in the ventral right hemithorax. The remaining pulmonary markings are adequate. The cardiac size and shape and vasculature are normal. The trachea is normal in height. The diaphragm is intact. The cranial mediastinal space is normal. The osseous structures of the thorax are normal. In the abdomen, soft tissue streaking is present in the ventral peritoneal space. There is overall decreased serosal detail. The liver tapers normally. The stomach contains gas. The viewable small bowel contains gas. The kidneys and spleen are normal in size. The colon contains feces. The urinary bladder is minimally distended. Spondylosis is present. The pelvis is unremarkable. Radiologist's Interpretation: 1. Pulmonary mass. A malignant neoplastic process such as a carcinoma is considered. A granuloma is considered less likely. 2. Suspect fluid in the peritoneal space. An inflammatory or malignant etiology is considered. 3. Otherwise somewhat limited evaluation of the abdomen due to decreased serosal detail. Radiologist's Recommendations: 1. A contrast CT examination of the thorax with guided aspirates is indicated. 2. An abdominal ultrasound would be helpful.
