Data centers are growing intensively! All the more reason to focus on designing them effectively. Come join us to find out how!
This advanced level class on December 9 and 11 focuses on how to select, design, control, and commission mechanical systems with the lowest total cost of ownership (TCO) for a given data center. Jeff Stein and Brandon Gill will discuss TCO accounts for first cost (including electrical, architectural, and structural impacts), reliability, complexity vs. simplicity and energy efficiency. https://lnkd.in/gpHSi8KM #DataCenter #EEforDataCenter #HVAC #OnlineLearning #PGEEnergyCenters

Groundbreaking work that has uncovered numerous common issues with the design and operation of hot water systems in commercial buildings. Read on, to learn about how we can do better, and implications for decarbonizing the existing building stock!
If you're working on decarbonizing large existing buildings, then a large part of that focuses on reducing emissions from heating systems. You might wonder how high are water temperatures in real buildings, or how often do heating systems operate, and what heating loads do these systems see? Rupam, Hwakong, Gwelen and I gathered and analyzed trend data from hydronic heating systems in 259 buildings to answer those questions, and others. Spoiler: Common assumptions about how these systems operate are pretty far from reality. #buildings, #HVAC, #hydronics, #decarb, #energyefficiency, #heating, #UCBerkeley
How do hydronic heating systems really operate in buildings?
