“Our vision for the Gateway at Millbrae Station’s mixed-use office and retail building was to design a dynamic and thriving community” says John Marx, AIA, Co-Founding Design Principal and Chief Artistic Officer of Form4 Architecture, Inc.. The Gateway at Millbrae Station is a 500,000-square-foot miniature city that comprises a mix of market-rate and affordable residential units, as well as offices, retail, and more next to the Millbrae BART station. Form4 designed a 165,000-square-foot office building in the development that proved to be so desirable in this time of changing work habits that SamTrans (San Mateo County Transit District) has chosen the location for its new headquarters. Frankl (1886-1958)—an innovative designer who helped define the American modern tradition—moved to Los Angeles in 1934, he was inspired by the tropical climate and started experimenting with rattan. Wichita Biomedical Campus, designed by clients Helix Architecture + Design and CO Architects, is the largest commercial project currently in construction in Wichita. The $300-million project in downtown Wichita is a joint venture between Wichita State University’s College of Health Professions, WSU Tech’s healthcare program and the Wichita campuses of University of Kansas’s School of Medicine and School of Pharmacy. This 342,000-square-foot facility will explore new boundaries in interdisciplinary medical education and open for occupancy in spring 2027.
