We officially launched our Tau Tug 2025 fundraising campaign last night! We are thrilled to have Aspen Hawkins return as our CF ambassador for a second year. His inspiring story helped us surpass our fundraising goals last year, and we’re excited to do it again this year. At just 11 years old, Aspen lives with cystic fibrosis and generously shares his experiences, including his love for hunting, being outdoors, and playing with his dog, Duke. Aspen also actively contributes to CF research, and through our support of the foundation, we are helping make this important work possible. Together, we’re advancing the mission to make CF stand for "Cure Found." A heartfelt thank you to Danielle Thomason Driggers Driggers, our Senior Development Director from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Georgia Chapter, for her presence and support. She spoke on behalf of the foundation, educating our chapter about cystic fibrosis, explaining how our fundraising supports crucial research, and highlighting how new treatments are significantly improving the lives of individuals with CF. Danielle also shared that researchers are incredibly close to finding a cure for CF.

Alpha Tau Omega presents Tau Tug – an epic 15-on-15 tug-of-war tournament set in the heart of a massive mud pit at the ATO house's sideyard. It's good (not) clean fun, all in support of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. ATO has dedicated its fundraising efforts to this meaningful cause, transforming dirt into dollars that pave the way for medical breakthroughs for people with cystic fibrosis. In 2023, $76,000 was raised to further the mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. ATO's Tau Tug event has benefited the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for over 12 years; inspired by ATO's brother, John Pickering, who lives with cystic fibrosis. When John's fellow brothers learned about his disease, they quickly committed to raising money in his honor and helping to find a cure for CF. John continues to be the driving force for UGA's ATOs. With great hope and expectation, ATO is dedicated to finding a cure not only for John but for every person living with CF. Since Tau Tug began contributing to the CF Foundation, incredible progress has been made for people with cystic fibrosis.

? For this #FridayImpactFact we’re looking at the history Cystic Fibrosis Foundation donors have helped to make. ? There are more than 40,000 people who are living with cystic fibrosis in the U.S. Approximately 60% of people with CF are adults. And, for the first time, 56 is the median predicted life expectancy. This is up 20 years from a decade ago. Pictured below is John Pickering (PC ’11) former Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, and his life expectancy was a 50% chance to make it to age 18 when he was diagnosed.
