We had an incredible time celebrating Women’s History Month at the Museum of Science on Saturday! The event featured inspiring conversations with female leaders in science, including Dr. Yvette Cozier from Boston University, Laura Carfang from Surviving Breast Cancer, and our very own founder, Samantha. Visitors got hands-on with the Tatum T1, including visitors from across New England, and our friends at the DeafBlind Contact Center! Huge thanks to the Museum for spotlighting the achievements of women in STEM! [A collage of three photos and a graphic celebrating Women's History Month at the Museum of Science. Top left: Samantha speaks into a microphone onstage beside an interpreter and a museum staff member, addressing a seated audience under a large screen displaying logos of Tatum Robotics, Perkins School for the Blind, Helen Keller National Center for Deaf-Blind Youths and Adults, and others. Top right: A colorful graphic with a satellite, microscope, and planet reads “Women’s History Month @ Museum of Science.” Bottom left: Jaime and two women engage with the Tatum T1 at a demo table, smiling as one interacts with it. Giving the millions of DeafBlind individuals access to the abled world’s resources through communication.
关于我们
There are millions of Americans that are DeafBlind; they cannot see OR hear. There are another 150M+ people globally living with severe deafblindness.?The primary language of those with deafblindness is a tactile sign language. In tactile sign languages, the person with deafblindness places their hands over their communication partner's hand as the communication partner signs. In this way, the DeafBlind person is able to feel the sign language to understand the message being relayed. Because of this interaction with their communication partner, those with severe deafblindness currently have no means of independently communicating via tactile sign. Tatum Robotics will give the millions of DeafBlind individuals access to the abled world’s resources through their primary and often only conversational language, tactile sign. Addressing an unmet need, this novel humanoid robotic system translates spoken or text based mediums into sign language that the DeafBlind community uses to communicate.?

Where was Tatum last week? Where wasn't Tatum last week! We have been getting tons of hand-on feedback thanks to our partners at the Helen Keller National Center for Deaf-Blind Youths and Adults and our new friends at the North Carolina DeafBlind Taste of Technology! Last week we met with 40 DeafBlind people to help refine our functionality and get ready for our upcoming launch! [A collage of images showcasing Tatum Robotics' outreach in Boston, New York, and North Carolina. The background features bold text labeling each location with arrows pointing to different locations. In the images, DeafBlind individuals and allies interact with the Tatum T1 robotic hand, engaging in tactile signing and smiling. One image shows a woman in a purple jacket excitedly smiling with the device, another features a woman in a baseball cap using the Tatum T1, and another depicts three women holding the robotic hand together. In the top right, a young woman and a man communicate through tactile signing. The Tatum Robotics logo is in the bottom left corner.]

????On #InternationalWomensDay, we celebrate women with #deafblindness around the world and acknowledge the unique challenges they face. The lack of data on their needs leads to statistical invisibility. Let’s work together towards more representation and better support!

The world's DeafBlind community is on the verge of receiving a technical breakthrough: the Tatum Robotics T1 robotics system that can communicate via tactile sign language. It can translate speech or text into tactile sign language. It's the first of its kind and looks like a life-changing device for people who have only been able to communicate via touch with other people. ? So exciting for me to visit Tatum Robotics Founder and CEO Samantha Johnson and team at their headquarters in Watertown Mass at the world-renowned Perkins School for the Blind. ? So proud that Onshape by PTC is Tatum's CAD and PDM system!? Delighted that we can help bring this incredibly worthy product to life. And thank you to my colleague Maureen Carroll for being Tatum's Onshape Customer Success Manager and for joining me on the visit.
