BHSAI’s Director & Senior Research Scientist, Dr. Jaques Reifman recently served as a keynote speaker at the CIMVHR - Canadian Institute for Military and Veteran Health Research Forum in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. His presentation focused on the work that BHSAI is doing to advance AI applications to enhance Military medical readiness. The role of CIMVHR has been to create a network through which experts actively collaborate in addressing the health needs of our Military, Veterans and their families. For over a decade, the annual CIMVHR Forum has been the preeminent event at which these types of collaborations begin, grow and mature. ???Honoring a Legacy of Service??? Today, TEAM TATRC proudly celebrated with a Relinquishment of Responsibility and Retirement of our Senior Enlisted Advisor, SFC Jeremy Trapier after 20 years of distinguished service to the US Army. The Ceremony was held indoors at the Fort Detrick Auditorium, and TATRC Commander, COL Jeremy Pamplin served as the Presiding Officer, with SGT Lauren Pechev providing a rousing acapella rendition of our Star Spangled Banner. The Ceremony also included a patriotic tribute & flag folding presentation with the help of two flag bearers from USAMRIID — U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases, SGT Kendall Geddings & SGT Michael Graham. Surrounded by his many friends, family members, and colleagues through the years, SFC Trapier received numerous Awards, Accolades, Certificates, and heartfelt mementos as we bid farewell to our “Battle Buddy.” SFC Trapier, a native of Garland, Utah, joined the Army in 2005 at the height of the War in Iraq. His initial assignment was to the 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, serving as a Line Medic, Senior Line Medic, and Infantry Company MEDEVAC NCO during the height of the troop surge for a 16-month deployment. Upon his return from Iraq, he continued to serve the Army in key leadership roles. As the Deputy Commander for Clinical Services (DCCS) NCOIC at Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center, SFC Trapier led a team of over 1200 Army, Civilian and contract personnel, and was directly responsible for many of the initiatives deemed critical to DDEAMC’s successful fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. He personally conceptualized, resourced, and established the top performing COVID-19 testing and vaccination clinics in the DoD. His operational models were later used by FEMA for nationwide implementation, garnering recognition from civilian news stations and strategic Army leadership, including the MEDCOM Commander. In his two years at TATRC, SFC Trapier guided our Organization through times of significant disruption and enabled us to meet the medical needs of combat casualties during large scale combat operations. His contributions have been invaluable, and his impact on our team and the Soldiers he mentored will resonate for years to come.
