Lindsey Mattson, TAT Director of Industry Engagement (energy), led a Train-the-Trainer session with Marathon Petroleum Corporation’s Transport and Rail Team on March 18. The session focused on human trafficking awareness in the energy sector, equipping the team with industry-specific training materials to recognize and address trafficking. Mattson discussed the importance of watching TAT’s industry-specific videos (energy, over-the-road or corporate training) and offered time for questions and answers, so trainers were prepared to deliver the information during their own training sessions. TAT teamed up with Enbridge and TC Energy to host a human trafficking awareness webinar for their employees, with 508 people from the U.S. and Canada in attendance. The session, which featured presentations from TAT and a panel discussion with U.S., Canadian and Indigenous law enforcement representatives, explored topics including the impact of trafficking on Indigenous communities, potential points of intersection between the energy industry and human trafficking and how to protect youth from human trafficking and exploitation. #TATEnergy #HumanTraffickingAwareness #TAT #OilAndGas

The North Dakota Petroleum Council (NDPC) has opened doors for TAT to share anti-trafficking information with the energy industry, including by inviting TAT to present at the Williston Basin Petroleum Conference and donating trade show space for the Freedom Drivers Project. NDPC also highlighted TAT in their newsletter, facilitated introductions to media in North Dakota and promoted the North Dakota Coalition Build, which took place in October 2024.
