Director of Industry Training Heather Fry presented the TAT message at RFX | REFE's annual meeting in Houston, Texas on Oct. 12. She highlighted TAT's OTR training video that RFX has incorporated into their onboarding process with 232 drivers already certified in the Tinley Park, Illinois location. After the event, Nate Lourie, president and CEO of RFX | REFE, committed to roll out training to his Houston and Tampa operations and called on the logistics community to engage saying, "We often talk about how RFX is more than just a job. We want to make an impact beyond our walls, so when we heard about TAT, we wanted to get involved immediately. Our people at RFX are trained on how to prevent these terrible acts of sex trafficking, and our hope is that if we can prevent even ONE instance from happening, we are making a difference. The logistics industry has to step in and get involved, and I'm actively calling on our space to get involved as much as humanly possible."

关于我们
TAT, a 501c3 organization, is dedicated to raising up a defensive force of transportation professionals across North America to assist law enforcement in the recognition and reporting of human trafficking, in order to aid in the recovery of victims and the arrest of perpetrators. Recognizing that certain industries are uniquely positioned to recognize and report human trafficking, TAT partners with the trucking, truck stop, bus and energy industries to engage their workforces in this fight. TAT also partners with government agencies and law enforcement throughout the U.S. and Canada and builds public-private partnerships between the transportation and energy industries and law enforcement to combat this crime. TAT stands committed to educate, equip, empower and mobilize members of key industries and agencies to combat human trafficking. We educate our partners with industry/agency-specific top-tier training tools to recognize and report this crime and to use a victim-centered approach when engaging with potential victims of trafficking. We equip our partners with training, language, action plans and policies to make a positive impact on this crime. We come alongside our partners and empower them to activate those within their sphere of influence to get involved. We mobilize the largest army of transportation/industry professionals and public sector partners to lend their expertise and their voices to this movement.

This time of year is a wonderful time for us to reflect on what we're grateful for, and many people take the opportunity to give back. If you are looking to give to a charity or nonprofit this year, please consider giving to TAT and doubling your impact! Right now through Dec. 31, all donations to TAT are being matched by our sponsor, the Berger North Foundation, up to $250,000. We would be grateful for any amount you can give, as every dollar counts towards life-saving training and resources for the transportation industry to learn about human trafficking, how to recognize and report it, and tools to spread awareness in the community! Give to TAT at: bit.ly/TAT24EOY.

On Oct. 23-24, Micah Larsen, Freedom Drivers Project (FDP) specialist, and the FDP visited two Linde facilities in LaPorte, and East Chicago, Indiana. Linde displayed posters, provided advance publicity for the events, catered breakfast and lunch at both locations, held two raffles and benefitted from leadership support throughout. The FDP drew 115 people over the two days, which included both Linde and Ruan Transportation employees, since Ruan trucks run all of Linde’s product from the East Chicago location. Larsen handed out TAT materials and Linde gift bags and engaged in some exciting conversations with Linde employees.

“As a technology provider in the transportation industry, Breakthrough felt compelled to engage our shipper client base and their carrier partners in TAT’s important mission to combat human trafficking. Beyond the transportation industry, we were so grateful for the opportunity to bring the Freedom Driver’s Project to Green Bay to bring awareness to this cause in our community. We are thankful for the community's support and to everyone who joined us at the FDP Trailer.” -Erin Blaha, VP, Marketing and Strategy The Freedom Drivers Project (FDP) and FDP Director Brandy Belton attended Bridgestone/U.S. Venture/Breakthrough events in Green Bay and Appleton, Wisconsin in mid-October. Employees of Awaken, an anti-trafficking NGO serving Green Bay and the surrounding area, attended the events with TAT to provide local resources and information to their community at both locations. Awaken also partners with Brown County Sheriff's Department, who came out to tour. At the two events, 80 people toured the FDP, including representatives from Quality Carriers, Breakthrough, Festival Foods, U. S. Ventures, law enforcement, healthcare, a local foundation and a community college.
