Public safety projects are a priority for the communities we serve—making them an essential part of TSK's portfolio. In March 2025 alone, our practice has 6 fire station projects in either construction or design for various communities in multiple states. The new Carson City Fire Station and EOC (pictured) involved working with a challenging site and within budget limitations to hit its goals. Kevin Kemner recently joined Vaughn Middle School to demonstrate and simulate different forces on building structures! Check out his samples below:
TSK had the opportunity to spend a couple days with Vaughn Middle School's Ms Castro's 7th Grade Science Classes learning how to make structures strong. Using only pasta, marshmallows and a little bit of tape, students built structures to withstand simulated earthquake forces using a simple shake table. Each built two tries to withstand a simulated earthquake. This coincides with the construction of the new Vaughn Middle School directly outside. It was truly exciting and fun for all. Students demonstrated a high level of engagement in each session. This is all part of TSK and C+S outreach to bring educational value to the school during construction.
