Maternal and Newborn Survival Initiative (MANSI+) by #TataSteelFoundation, is our effort to improve the health of mothers and children. Under this initiative, we train community health workers (locally called Sahiyyas?in Jharkhand) in low-cost, home-based practices to care for the mother and her child. We also equip them with adequate resources for the same, and then monitor the progress of their intervention. Through the unique real-time digital app – Operation Sunshine – that allows for better tracking, we have now reached farther regions, and?have been able to improve the effectiveness of the entire project. Today, what began as a simple initiative has evolved into the country’s largest consolidated maternal, neonatal, and infant health programme with MANSI+. This programme allows us to support girls and women through various stages of their lives, from childhood to motherhood.?The programme?includes nutritional, sociological and institutional healthcare to fight all the factors that contribute to an increase in mortality.
