In the face of adversity, be courageous. Before her untimely loss to NUT carcinoma at age 37, Alexandra Hallock built her life and career serving nonprofits at Cause Strategy Partners and Taproot Foundation. Allie was passionate about causes with great approaches to protecting human rights, empowering girls and women, and fighting for LGBTQ+ rights. Small organizations working hard to build momentum on these cause areas are swimming upstream today, facing off against powerful forces that would seek to retract or eliminate — not grow — their impact on behalf of marginalized communities. Allie’s valiant battle with cancer demonstrated what courage, intention, and putting up a determined fight against terrible odds looks like. Allie would have leaned in to courageousness and a strong sense of justice in this moment…and so do we. Temps may have been near zero, but the welcome was warm as Taproot Foundation's CEO Cat Ward's listening tour continued last week in Chicago. ? In a city where over 13,500,000 nonprofits are hard at work, the potential for pro bono service is huge.
