Celebrating the accomplishment of one of our brilliant young family members! We're so proud of Claire Getty, whose essay on the value of non-food agriculture—from forest products to clothing and fuel—earned her first place in the Franklin County Farm Bureau essay contest and a chance to connect with UT Institute of Agriculture's Vice Chancellor, Dr. Keith Carver. Now advancing to the state-level Farm Bureau contest, Claire will continue sharing about our industry with the state. Congratulations, Claire! ??

Quality lumber production requires a commitment to the lumber grading process. In 1898, the National Hardwood Lumber Association (NHLA) was founded to create a uniform grading system for hardwood lumber. As a NHLA certified business, we invest heavily in our grading process. Lumber grading is a standardized process that categorizes wood into groups based on its quality, strength, and appearance. The grade of lumber determines how it will be used and its price. Determining the grade helps us: → Guarantee the strength and integrity needed for your project → Provide consistent quality with every board → Maximize the value of every log → Minimize waste and promote sustainable practices → Meet industry compliance standards With our dedication to precise grading, we aim to give our customers exactly what they need for their project. We are grateful for our team of lumber graders who make this possible. ?? #ProducedinTennessee #LumberGrading

Wood products provide essential building material to so many industries. All of the logs you see here will be used as railroad crossties. ?? Hardwood trees such as red oak, white oak or mixed tie logs (gum, sycamore, hackberry, maple, elm, and locus) are used for crossties. These species offer the durability and resistance to wear and tear that railroad tracks need.
