TAPCO Credit Union has a long and rich history in Pierce County. Founded in 1934 by nine City of Tacoma employees, TAPCO has grown to over 30,000 members. Anyone who lives or works in the state of Washington is eligible for membership, and each member has a voice in how TAPCO operates. International Credit Union Day Recap! On October 17, we celebrated the global credit union movement with an incredible day of service! Since 1948, International Credit Union (ICU) Day has brought people together to build brighter financial futures and give back to our communities. This year's theme, "One World Through Cooperative Finance," reminded us of the power of credit unions to unite people, put members first, and make a positive impact. We're thrilled to share highlights from the day as TAPCO employees, alongside our friends from Sound, Harborstone, O Bee, and America's Credit Union, volunteered at three amazing community projects: ?? Habitat for Humanity - Tacoma Build Day ?? Metro Parks - Blueberry Park Shrub Pruning ?? Food Backpacks 4 Kids - Pantry, Garden, and Farm Maintenance Thank you to everyone who gave their time, energy, and passion on ICU Day—and every day. ?? TAPCO Credit Union Surprises Hilltop Heritage Middle School Students with $100 Grants to Turn into $1,000,000! ?? On November 7th, TAPCO made a huge impact by providing $100 grants to 95 students at Hilltop Heritage Middle School in Tacoma! Each student also received a copy of How to Turn $100 Into $1,000,000, written by the creators of the Emmy-winning PBS series Biz Kid$. This event is part of a nationwide launch of the 2nd edition of the best-selling book, which teaches kids essential financial skills. TAPCO's $9,500 grant is the largest given in this initiative, aiming to bring practical financial education to students who need it most. We’re proud to be a part of empowering the next generation with the knowledge to manage and grow their finances! ??
