关于我们

Tangipahoa Parish began in 1869, when it was carved from Livingston Parish, St. Helena Parish, St. Tammany Parish, and Washington Parish. The name comes from the Tangipahoa River and the historic Tangipahoa Native American people. Tangipahoa is the youngest parish in the Florida Parishes region of the state. It was flooded in 1932 and in the early 1980s. In 2016, it was one of many parishes declared a Federal disaster area due to historic flooding in both March and August. Tangipahoa Parish Robby Miller encourages everyone to MOVE HERE! #bestparishinthestate #2017

  • Did you know that our Deputy Director of Tangipahoa Parish Homeland Security Vicki Travis presented at the Juvare conference? Vicki is an innovator in the use of WebEOC, and she has not only shared her expertise of the product; she is constantly training our people to make them better equipped to utilize this tool in disaster events! Thank you, Vicki, for all you do and for shining the light on the secret of Tangipahoa Parish's success! #OurPeopleMakeUsGREAT #BestParishinLouisiana

  • Thank you to our friends at S&W Foods for inviting #TeamTangi to tour their new headquarters facility on US 190 west of Hammond. Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller, our CAO Joe Thomas, and Economic Development Director Ginger Cangelosi met with Paul Spalitta and his team to see how this more than 45-year-old locally owned distribution company has thrived right here in Tangipahoa Parish. Their recent $21 million expansion will help Tangipahoa retain more than 100 jobs in our community and provide this family-owned business the resources they need to grow into the next generation! Congratulations!!!

#TeamTangi recently paid tribute to our outgoing director of the Florida Parishes Arena, Kelly Wells. After 20+ years of dedicated service to our parish, Kelly is retiring this week. Hired as the first-ever director of the Florida Parishes Arena in June 2004, Kelly had the vision to assemble a team and build community partnerships to make the facility one of the best in Louisiana and recognized not only across this state but also across the nation. Over the years, the Arena has become an economic generator for northern Tangipahoa Parish and a destination for activities ranging from agriculture, equestrian/livestock events, and large scale gatherings in our Florida Parishes Event Center. In 2022, Kelly was named the first recipient of the national Silver Horseshoe Award by the League of Agricultural and Equine Centers to recognize his "outgoing, friendly personality, enthusiasm for the association, longtime participation in the national symposium, and overall support for the League and its efforts." All the while Kelly has been an active member of our community, serving on a number of boards and commissions. In recognition of all he has done for Tangipahoa, Parish President Robby Miller declared Dec. 20 as Kelly Wells Day, and he invites our entire community to join him in congratulating Kelly on an outstanding career and wishing him the very best as he entires retirement! Congratulations, Kelly!!!
