Trades are key. Companies have tried, and failed, to make gains in housing availability by reinventing how homes are built. But it’s not the construction process itself that’s broken. The largest hurdle in building housing at scale is how information is shared with trades across the lifecycle of a project. Trades are the most versatile and flexible group in the industry. We're embracing them, not replacing them. ?? Salman Ahmad on Tangent ?? Proptech

Thanks to Goodpods for featuring our latest episode with Rudin's Co-CEO Michael Rudin on their listening platform! Even better when featured alongside fellow Proptech entrepreneur Mike Russo and his conversation with Spencer Rascoff, a previous guest on Tangent??Proptech.

Impossible to summarize in one post how insightful and stimulating this year's Blueprint: The Future of Real Estate was... but if I tried, it would look something like this: ?? Very exciting to see housing innovation & affordability, future of work and Climate Tech being front and center, on and off the stage, as entrepreneurs collaborate to find viable solutions while also making them worth while investments. ?? Matt Ellis & Measurabl launched ESG Exchange (ESGx) Benchmarks, setting a new standard for Real Estate Sustainability metrics. It's a free new report that provides Real Estate owners, operators, investors, & lenders unrivaled insight into sustainability performance. ?? After years of Real Estate Brokers being hammered by market forces, it's awesome to see companies like Tongo emerge to help improve their financial health. ?? Berkadia's BeEngaged, with its Network and Lab, is helping startups that are destined to redefine the commercial real estate space. A mission-driven ecosystem like this is what Proptech founders and Real Estate players need to scale and drive impactful and profitable innovation. ??Pictured: (1) Tangent ?? Proptech's Jeffrey Berman (partner @ Camber Creek) and I hosted Fifth Wall's Brendan Wallace to talk about Climate Tech, decarbonizing our sector & the future of Proptech Venture Capital. (2) CoreLogic's housing market data and conference experience remain unrivaled. No wonder they're at the forefront of innovation, driving effective cross-sector collaboration, data transparency and powering housing affordability. Special thanks to John Rogers, Robin Wachner, Donna Zhao, Nick Wanzenried, Philippe Rolland & Hallie Nester, M.S. for enlightening demos. (3) Martin Kelly kicked off this year's event with a Steve Jobs-esque welcoming performance. The effort he and his team dedicate all year round to make Blueprint happen is truly remarkable. David Hirschman, Jessica Levin, Parker Gowan, Laila Hawe & Clara Bridgman, can't thank you and the whole Blueprint team enough for everything you do. (4) Cherry Lawn Capital's Robert McDonald hosted a roundtable with startup operators & capital providers, and published a White Paper on Transitional Finance, a new credit model for financing high-growth real estate firms in the PropTech sector, where traditional VC and Real Estate financing are inadequate. (5) Brad Hargreaves hosted visionary DEVELOPERS, DEVELOPERS, DEVELOPERS during Blueprint’s Vision Stage, including Camp North End & Burj Khalifa. Very thankful for the upcoming collabs with the wonderful teams at Fifth Wall, Marino. & Bloxspring. PS. Tips for next year's Blueprint: ?? Don't miss breakfast, early bird catches the worm, and Blueprint's breakfast is tasty. ?? Bring comfy shoes (black sneakers should suffice). ?? Plan your schedule and target meetings at least 2 weeks before the event, using Blueprint's intuitive portal. It's a helpful tool for research & planning your conference. (Resources in the comments)

One of the things I enjoy most about being a venture capitalist is the opportunity to work with some of the most passionate and innovative people out there. Every day, I get to interact with visionaries who are not just building companies, but also shaping the future. Their drive, creativity, and relentless pursuit of success are truly inspiring. And it doesn't stop there. I also have the privilege of speaking with many of these incredible entrepreneurs and thought leaders on the podcast Edward Cohen, Zach Aarons and I host (Tangent ?? Proptech). It’s an amazing platform to dive deep into their journeys, learn from their experiences, and share those insights with a broader audience. It's especially enjoyable when we can bring friends on who also happen to be industry titans like Michael Rudin, co-CEO of Rudin. Our conversation touched upon CRE amenities for today's workforce, profitable property management operations, and more.
