As our CMO Kevin M. Fosnocht, MD, FACP notes, Tandigm is committed to improving value-based payment models. We work closely with our practices and payors to link payment to meaningful outcomes.
This recent JAMA article provides an insightful critique of Value Based Payment (VBP) models, along with proposals for policy action While VBP certainly has much that can be improved upon, including reducing opportunities for system gaming, the authors’ fundamental proposal is to eliminate VBP and focus on fixing Fee-For-Service (FFS) models.? There is certainly a nuance to their argument but now is not the time to call for an end to value-based payments, especially within primary care, which remains underfunded.?? ? Tandigm Health is committed to improving value-based payment models, including financial support of Advanced Primary Care models, not by adding more FFS codes with individual payments, but by linking payment that accounts for the clinical burden of a practice’s population to outcomes that matter.?
