?? Gratitude doesn’t need a holiday, but it’s always a good reminder to give thanks. ?? As we approach this time of year, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle—work deadlines, family plans, and everything in between. But let’s take a moment to reflect on what we’re truly thankful for. For me, I’m incredibly grateful for my family. Married for 32 years, I couldn’t ask for a better partner. Thankful for my husband, my best friend, and to the wonderful family we’ve built together over the years. From all our adventures to the little everyday moments, these are the memories that make life so full and meaningful. And to our “little turkeys”—kids and grandkids—each of you brings joy and laughter to our lives in ways we’ll always cherish. ?? So here’s to: ?? The hard work we’ve put in this year. ?? The kindness we’ve given and received. ?? And the little joys that make it all worthwhile. Wishing everyone a season filled with gratitude, connection, and a moment to breathe. What are you thankful for this season? ?? #CherieSilas #Gratitude #Thankful #GratefulHeart #Reflection #SeasonOfThanks #TandemCoaching

?? Executive presence isn’t just about how you look or sound—it’s about how you lead. ?? For leaders, cultivating executive presence is essential to inspire confidence, gain trust, and influence others. But executive presence isn’t something you’re born with—it’s something you develop over time. It’s about how you carry yourself, communicate, and make others feel when you’re in the room (or on Zoom). Here are some tips to help you build your executive presence and lead with confidence: ?? Communicate with clarity – Whether you’re speaking to your team or addressing the board, clear, concise communication is essential. Focus on getting your message across simply and effectively. Avoid jargon, and speak in a way that resonates with your audience. ?? Stay calm under pressure – Leaders who can remain composed during stressful situations exude confidence. Even when things get chaotic, staying calm and focused signals to others that you’re in control and capable of handling challenges. ?? Master the art of listening – Executive presence isn’t just about speaking—it’s also about listening. Talk less, listen more. People want to feel heard and understood, so show that you value their input by actively listening. This builds trust and strengthens relationships with your team and peers. ?? Show up with confidence – Confidence doesn’t mean arrogance. It’s about having conviction in your decisions and trusting in your abilities. When you believe in yourself, others will believe in you too. Practice positive self-talk and focus on your strengths. ?? Be emotionally intelligent – Understanding and managing your own emotions, as well as those of others, is key to building executive presence. Emotionally intelligent leaders navigate tough conversations, manage conflicts, and maintain strong relationships by showing empathy and awareness. ?? Be decisive – Leaders with executive presence make decisions confidently and efficiently. While it’s important to gather information and seek input, don’t shy away from making tough calls. Decisiveness builds trust and shows that you’re capable of leading with authority. ?? Seek feedback and grow – Executive presence is developed over time. Actively seek feedback from mentors, peers, and your team to understand how you’re perceived and where you can improve. This self-awareness will help you continuously refine and enhance your presence. Remember: Talk less, listen more. Tell less, ask more. Great leaders don’t just look the part—they create an environment where others feel valued and empowered. What’s one area you’re working on to build your executive presence? ?? #CherieSilas #ExecutivePresence #LeadershipDevelopment #Confidence #ExecutiveCoaching #EmotionalIntelligence #TandemCoaching

??Top Tech Talent frustrates, fails, or quits when forced into management.?? For many tech professionals, the idea of moving into leadership isn’t always the goal. Some want to continue honing their technical skills, pushing the boundaries of innovation, and staying hands-on with the technology they love. But in many organizations, the only way to advance is by moving into a leadership role—whether it aligns with their career goals or not. Here are some challenges tech leaders face when the only path to growth leads to management: ?? Limited career paths – Many organizations don’t offer clear advancement opportunities for tech talent that don’t involve leadership. This leaves highly skilled professionals feeling stuck, with nowhere to go unless they’re willing to give up the work they’re passionate about. ?? Losing top technical talent – When organizations push every promotion toward leadership, they risk losing top talent who don’t want to manage teams. Leaders need to consider alternative growth paths to retain their best people and keep them engaged. ?? Lack of technical career tracks – Many companies don’t have a defined career track for tech professionals who want to remain technical. A “dual career ladder” approach can solve this by offering parallel paths for both technical and leadership growth. ?? Creating new opportunities – Tech executives can advocate for creating roles like Principal Engineer or Technical Fellow, which allow experts to advance without stepping into management. These roles recognize and reward technical excellence while allowing professionals to stay hands-on. ?? Redefining success – Success doesn’t have to look the same for everyone. Leaders should redefine what career advancement means by providing opportunities for recognition, compensation, and impact that don’t require managing teams. It’s time to rethink how we define career growth in tech. Not everyone is meant to lead teams—and that’s okay. By offering diverse career paths that allow professionals to grow in ways that align with their passions and skills, organizations can create a more engaged, motivated, and innovative workforce. What’s your take on promotions that only lead to leadership roles? #CherieSilas #TechLeadership #CareerDevelopment #LeadershipDevelopment #ExecutiveCoaching #TechnicalExcellence #TandemCoaching

?? Great leaders don’t just manage teams—they create environments where everyone can thrive. ?? In today’s workplace, inclusive leadership is more important than ever. Inclusive leaders not only recognize the value of diversity, but they actively foster an environment where everyone—regardless of background, identity, or experience—feels welcomed, valued, and empowered to contribute. Here’s how inclusive leadership leads to more diverse, successful teams: ?? Embracing diverse perspectives – Inclusive leaders know that diverse teams bring fresh ideas, unique problem-solving approaches, and better decision-making. They encourage open dialogue and make sure that every voice is heard, ensuring that the team benefits from the full range of perspectives. ?? Creating a safe space for dialogue – For true inclusion, team members need to feel safe sharing their ideas, concerns, and even mistakes. Inclusive leaders build trust by promoting psychological safety, where people feel comfortable speaking up without fear of judgment or backlash. ?? Investing in growth and development – Inclusive leaders see the potential in everyone. They invest in mentorship, coaching, and opportunities for growth, ensuring that team members have the resources they need to thrive—no matter where they come from or what their starting point is. ?? Recognizing and addressing bias – Bias, whether conscious or unconscious, can prevent leaders from truly embracing diversity. Inclusive leaders are proactive about identifying their own biases and addressing them head-on. They commit to ongoing learning and self-awareness, ensuring they don’t inadvertently exclude anyone from the conversation. ?? Equal opportunities for all – Inclusive leaders ensure that opportunities are available to everyone on their team, not just the loudest voices. They create fair processes for decision-making, promotions, and development, making sure that everyone has a chance to succeed. Inclusive leadership isn’t just a nice-to-have—it’s a business imperative. Teams that feel valued and included are more innovative, more engaged, and more successful. Leaders who prioritize inclusion build stronger teams and drive better outcomes. ?? Conflict is inevitable—but it doesn’t have to derail your team. ?? Every leader faces conflicts at some point, whether it’s between team members, departments, or even with external partners. How you handle those conflicts can make all the difference between a dysfunctional team and one that thrives. That’s where coaching comes in. Coaching provides leaders with the tools and insights they need to manage and resolve conflicts in a way that strengthens, rather than weakens, relationships. Here’s how coaching can help leaders resolve conflicts effectively: ?? Encouraging open communication – One of the biggest obstacles in conflict resolution is poor communication. Coaches help leaders develop the skills to create open, honest dialogue where everyone feels heard. This helps de-escalate tension and fosters mutual understanding. ?? Building emotional intelligence – Leaders need to understand not just their own emotions, but the emotions of those around them. Coaching helps leaders improve their emotional intelligence, so they can navigate conflicts with empathy, understanding the perspectives of all parties involved. ?? Focusing on solutions, not blame – Coaching teaches leaders how to shift from focusing on the problem and who is at fault to finding a solution. Instead of getting stuck in the blame game, coaches help leaders guide their teams toward collaborative problem-solving, where everyone feels responsible for the outcome. ?? Facilitating productive feedback – Giving and receiving feedback during a conflict can be tricky. Coaches help leaders develop the ability to deliver feedback that’s constructive and solution-oriented, ensuring it leads to progress rather than resentment. ?? Fostering a culture of growth – When conflicts are handled well, they can lead to stronger teams and deeper trust. Coaching encourages leaders to see conflict as an opportunity for growth, both personally and for their teams, by using it as a learning experience. Effective conflict resolution doesn’t happen by chance—it’s a skill that can be developed through coaching. When leaders have the tools to address conflicts head-on, they build stronger teams, better relationships, and more productive workplaces. ?? Change is inevitable, but how you lead through it makes all the difference. ?? In today’s fast-paced world, organizations must constantly adapt to stay competitive. But managing change can be tricky—especially when it disrupts established workflows and teams. That’s where Agile leadership comes in. Agile leadership isn’t just about driving projects forward; it’s about fostering a culture that can handle change smoothly and confidently. Here’s how Agile leadership can make all the difference during times of transition: ?? Flexibility is key – Agile leaders know that rigid plans don’t work in a world of constant change. By embracing flexibility and adaptability, they can adjust strategies on the fly without losing sight of the end goal. It’s not about sticking to the original plan—it’s about delivering the right results, even when the path changes. ??? Clear communication – Transitions can create uncertainty, but Agile leaders prioritize open, transparent communication. By keeping their teams informed and involved throughout the process, they reduce confusion and help everyone stay aligned, even in uncertain times. ?? Empowering teams – Agile leadership is all about decentralizing decision-making and empowering teams to take ownership of their work. This makes transitions smoother, as teams feel more capable of solving problems, adapting, and finding creative solutions without waiting for top-down instructions. ?? Iterative improvements – Change doesn’t have to happen all at once. Agile leaders guide their teams through transitions using iterative processes, breaking down large changes into manageable chunks. This allows for constant feedback and improvements, making the transition feel more natural and less overwhelming. Experimentation leads to success. ?? Building resilience – One of the biggest benefits of Agile leadership is that it builds resilient teams. By fostering a culture of continuous learning and adaptability, Agile leaders help their teams become better equipped to handle future changes with confidence and ease. Change is never easy, but with Agile leadership, it becomes more manageable—and even an opportunity for growth. Leaders who embrace Agile principles set their teams up for success, no matter what changes come their way. How are you using Agile leadership to navigate change in your organization? #CherieSilas #AgileLeadership #ChangeManagement #LeadershipDevelopment #AgileTransformation #ExecutiveCoaching #TandemCoaching

? Thinking about going Agile? It’s not as simple as flipping a switch. ? For many tech leaders, implementing Agile is seen as the key to driving faster delivery, better collaboration, and improved adaptability. But the road to becoming truly Agile comes with its own set of challenges, especially for organizations that have been operating under traditional models for years. Here are some common problems tech executives face when implementing Agile and how to navigate them: ?? Cultural resistance – Agile requires a shift in mindset, not just in processes. Many teams are used to a hierarchical, top-down approach, and moving to an Agile framework can feel uncomfortable. Leaders need to prioritize education and communication, making sure everyone understands the value of Agile and what it means for the organization. ?? Scaling Agile practices – While Agile works well for small teams, scaling it across larger departments or organizations can be tough. It’s important to ensure that the core principles of Agile—like collaboration, transparency, and flexibility—don’t get lost in the process of scaling. ?? Legacy processes and systems – Traditional organizations often have rigid structures and legacy systems in place that don’t easily align with Agile. Leaders must be willing to break down silos and replace outdated processes to allow for more fluid, cross-functional collaboration. ? Managing expectations – Agile doesn’t mean everything will happen faster overnight. It’s a process of continuous improvement, and leaders need to set realistic expectations about what success looks like. Shifting to Agile is about adaptability and iteration, not an immediate fix. ??? Lack of experience with Agile frameworks – Sometimes teams don’t have enough experience with Agile methodologies like Scrum or Kanban. It’s important to invest in training and coaching to ensure teams are equipped with the knowledge and skills to thrive in an Agile environment. ?? Communication breakdowns – Agile thrives on constant communication and feedback. Without strong communication channels, Agile implementations can quickly fall apart. Leaders need to establish open lines of communication and encourage regular check-ins, retrospectives, and feedback loops. Implementing Agile isn’t just a process—it’s a transformation. It requires time, effort, and a willingness to embrace change at all levels of the organization.
