The Harold Adams Charrette was an incredible opportunity for transformative learning and innovative design. The winning cherry blossom canopy design exemplified how thoughtful inspiration can shape meaningful community spaces, fostering connection and engagement. Congratulations to Yoojun Kim '25, Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Construction Science, for being recognized as a 2025 NSF Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) Rising Star! Yoojun had the incredible opportunity to attend the CPS Rising Stars Workshop at Vanderbilt University. This recognition is awarded to 30 outstanding scholars nationwide through a highly competitive selection process. The workshop included insightful sessions on securing research grants, building collaborations, and navigating academic career opportunities. Kim said, "It was an invaluable experience engaging with leading scholars and talented peers in the field."

Our students and students from the University of Maryland came together for the Harold Adams Charrette, forming dynamic teams to tackle design challenges head-on. Through site analysis, intense brainstorming, and innovative problem-solving, they crafted visionary solutions—from pedestrian bridges to lush trellises—demonstrating the true power of collaboration!

The Harold L. Adams Charrette, in conjunction with the University of Maryland, provided a dynamic platform for students to tackle complex challenges mirroring those faced in today's industries.
