Students in a junior-level construction surveying class taught by Roger Clarke, associate professor of construction science, recently did an exercise on the Langford Architectural Quad where they perform topographic surveys through direct measurements of the project site. Topographic surveys record both the horizontal plane measurements of the area being surveyed and the changes in elevation. #topographyweek #surveying #constructionscience

Dr. Phil Lewis, the interim head of the Construction Science Department, has been chosen as a fellow in the Southeastern Conference's Academic Leadership Development Program. Dr. Patrick Suermann, the Interim Dean of the College of Architecture, and former head of the Construction Science Department, nominated Lewis for the program, describing him as "a serious student of leadership." Ume Farwa, a senior environmental design student, has successfully completed her architectural internship at Stantec & CDA Architects in Houston, Texas. Since joining in June 2023, Ume has actively participated in valuable professional experiences, such as OAC meetings and site visits, contributing to her growth in the field. Kyle Christian, senior construction science student, just started a formal internship with Perry Homes after completing their summer internship program, where he learned valuable skills such as trade management, BuildPro and networking. Texas A&M is creating a "digital twin" of the College Station campus! This 3D model will optimize planning, improve scheduling and aid in emergencies by providing real-time data on population density.
