Our Program and Property Services Team recently took a group of our senior residents to the Florida Strawberry Festival, a cherished local tradition that has been bringing the community together for over 80 years. From enjoying fresh strawberry shortcake to reminiscing about past festivals, our seniors had a fantastic time socializing, making memories, and experiencing the best of Plant City. Events like these remind us how important it is to stay connected and celebrate the culture that makes Tampa Bay home. Honoring History: Zion Cemetery Historical Marker Dedication On February 26, community members and local leaders gathered for the dedication of the Zion Cemetery Historical Marker, a significant step in restoring recognition to Tampa's first African American burial ground. Mayor Jane Castor, Hillsborough County Commissioner Harry Cohen, and Florida Representative Fentrice Driskell spoke about the importance of preserving this historic site and ensuring the lives laid to rest there are never forgotten. The City of Tampa and the Tampa Housing Authority proudly issued proclamations in support of Zion Cemetery's preservation, reinforcing a shared commitment to honoring Tampa's past. Held during Black History Month, this dedication was a powerful moment of reflection and remembrance.
