What a beautiful day to fly! Thanks to the 927th Air Refueling Wing led by Col Kurt Matthews for hosting a phenomenal Boss Lift in conjunction with Colleen Trout, Jim Philpitt and the the Florida Employer Support of the Guard & Reserve (ESGR) program yesterday. I was pleased to join 927th Air Refueling Wing Honorary Commanders led by Katie Lopez, IOM and Tampa Bay area employers to learn more about the 927th's citizen Airmen and their families--we had a spectacular flight over Georgia and the Carolinas. The Tampa Bay Defense Alliance thanks Major General Robert Carruthers, Assistant Adjutant General-Army and the Commander of the Florida Army National Guard and COL Christopher Buckley, Chief of Staff, Florida Army National Guard for an outstanding visit and discussion yesterday at the Florida National Guard's historic St Francis Barracks in St Augustine, FL. Tampa Bay Defense Alliance President Lawrence Martin, Board Member Richard Haddad, Mark Vasterling, and Eric Lien, MBA visited with MAJGEN Carruthers and COL Buckley and learned more about the Florida National Guard's critical federal and state missions and how TBDA can support Florida's amazing Guardsmen and their families. The Florida National Guard will celebrate the 460th anniversary of its 1565 "First Muster" this year!

The Tampa Bay Defense Alliance and the Airlift Tanker Association proudly presented the 2024 Tampa Bay Trophy to Mark Kern from Scott Air Force Base, IL on November 2, 2024 in a ceremony held at the Airlift Tanker Association Convention, Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center, Grapevine, TX. Presenting the trophy was Tampa Bay Defense Alliance (TBDA) President Maj Gen Lawrence M. Martin Jr., USAF (Ret), Airlift/Tanker Association (A/TA) Chairman Gen Carlton D. Everhart II, USAF (Ret), and General John Lamontagne, Commander, Air Mobility Command. Join us for a great day of fun! We're rapidly approaching the 2024 Tampa Bay Community Golf Tournament on November 8, 2024 at Bay Palms Golf Cource, MacDill AFB. Proceeds from this year’s tournament will benefit Tinker K-8 School on MacDill AFB and the Alliance. We'll register at 0700 and have a Veteran's Day Rememberance at 0830, Shotgun start at 0900. We still have space for players, sponsors, volunteers or for donations. We are expecting the golf tournament to sell out, so act fast.
