This second Talon team consisted of lead MBS student Colin Nies and MBS team members Avani C. Jimenez, Musa Yanes, and Umair Ali Khan(He/him), and undergraduate students Amrit Chandrasekaran,Yug Shah and Pavan Patel. Thank you to the incredibly talented leaders and mentors Pratip Chattopadhyay and Alexis Hernandez. Also a big shout out to my co-advisor Bianna Cruz. When I left academia to start my own companies, I was worried that I would miss the opportunity to mentor students. Mentoring has always been one of my favorite things to do, and I proudly keep notes and cards from my mentees... I always told them that I'm not just a mentor while we're in the lab or course together but would always be available and eager to hear about later accomplishments (and challenges!). At Talon Biomarkers, I'm so proud that we've made mentorship a centerpiece of our work-life. One group we mentored this semester was an amazing group of students in Rutgers' MBS (Masters in the Business of Science) program. This team gave us a work-product that would have cost us tens of thousands of dollars with consultants, but more importantly: they inspired us. They came with fresh ideas, they validated 'bizdev' hunches I'd had, and they enthusiastically and expertly worked through a number of business development analyses for us. I am incredibly proud of them; they put a smile on my face and a spring in my step every Wednesday morning. Can't wait to see where life takes them!
