In 2025, this project will reduce the University of Dayton’s carbon footprint by more than 70% and deliver around-the-clock decarbonized power!

There's a growing demand for decarbonized energy, and Tallgrass is committed to identifying existing resources, such as unutilized industrial heat, that can be used to produce decarbonized power. This week, we're celebrating the forward progress of our waste heat to power project at the University of Dayton! Having executed the power purchase agreement and received approval from PUCOhio, Tallgrass, the University of Dayton, Kanin Energy, and The AES Corporation will collaborate to deliver a sustainable waste heat to power project that offsets 100% of the University's consumption and reduces their carbon footprint by 71%. Tallgrass will construct, own, and operate the waste heat recovery system connected to an existing natural gas compressor station alongside a major interstate natural gas pipeline. The first of its kind for Tallgrass, this project is paramount because it represents our broader vision for establishing infrastructure that delivers sustainable solutions.
