If there was an award for moving mountains – it would go to our Rain Makers! Last month, we gathered for our annual all-company Talking Rain Summit, a time close to our heart as a?company where we connected on the "Bold Moves - Big Wins" that our Rain Makers make on and off the field. There was a lot to celebrate with each other and our community! The energy was palpable from the bold moves made like our exciting Sparkling Ice Starburst? flavor collaboration and the "Anything But Subtle" campaign – a campaign that’s sent shock waves through the zeitgeist, to unleashing a whole new program of doing well by doing good. Even Seattle sports broadcaster Jen Mueller and former Seahawk, Doug Baldwin, got in on the fun as, together, we shared the stories that connect us and power of community by assembling children's play maker kits for the Jordan Morris Foundation and Seattle Children's. “To me, our Rain Makers have always been Play Makers, but at the Summit we saw this come to life just like the kids at JMO’s soccer camp, and together made over 1,000 “Play Maker” kits for children newly diagnosed with T1D. This partnership was full circle for us in celebration of making a real impact in the communities in which we live and serve. Veterans Day allows us to honor those who’ve served our country both in our Rain Maker community and our communities at large, but today’s not the only day we honor these heroes. Through our non-profit partnership with K9s For Warriors, we have made a commitment to honoring their unwavering dedication throughout the year by supporting the training of service dogs for veterans. The most famous service dog we know is Rocky Rhode, a former stray turned service-dog-in-training AND presidential candidate (sponsored by Sparkling Ice!). Rocky’s spokesdog status helped raise awareness of the needs of both veterans and shelter animals around the country, before he decided to put a “paws” on his candidacy to be paired with a U.S. Marine Corps veteran as his dedicated service dog. K9s For Warriors is saving lives at both ends of the leash, and we couldn’t be prouder to be their partner. We believe in creating beverages that aren’t just better for you, they’re on the road to carbon neutral too. Our very own COO, Oscar Mayorquín, shared thoughts with Food Processing magazine about the steps we've taken to improve our sustainability, such as reducing the amount of plastic in our bottles and removing the cardboard trays from our packaging. “As of this year, we’ve been able to eliminate 1.6 million lbs. of plastic, and the impact on our carbon footprint has been tremendous,” said Oscar.
