Wright actively experimented at Taliesin, which is especially visible when dissecting the Loggia Terrace. When Wright initially added the Terrace, it was only minimally connected to the building, extending further than normal engineering typically allowed. In a regular cantilever, support is usually provided underneath for two-thirds of the extension's length. However, the Loggia terrace defied this convention by having two-thirds of the length cantilevering. Despite this departure from conventional physics, Wright managed to maintain balance by placing enough weight on top of the Loggia Terrace wall to counter-balance the load.
