Marcos earned his degree from the School of Economics, Business and Accounting at the University of S?o Paulo (FEA-USP), the #1 ranked university in Latin America, co-founded Associa??o de Negros Feanos da USP (ANFEA-USP)—the first Black student association at a major university in Brazil—and has built a stellar career as a product manager and banker in Brazil’s financial technology sector. Today, Marcos stands as a trailblazer, being the first Black Brazilian gay man in history to attend the Full-Time MBA Program at IESE Business School. During his time at IESE, he continues to inspire others, sharing insights on his journey with prospective Candidates and alumni, demonstrating what is possible when courage and determination meet opportunity. Through his participation in TalentoTotal's GMAT Boot Camp and the TotalMBA Prep Program, Marcos laid the foundation for his success. Go Blue! TalentoTotal Fellow Caio Martins, a native of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), is making his mark on the University of Michigan campus as one of the few Afro-Brazilians to ever enter the Full-Time MBA Program at Michigan Ross.? Caio’s journey is the culmination of a beautiful relationship between TalentoTotal and the University of Michigan - Stephen M. Ross School of Business that began five years ago when TalentoTotal CEO and Founder, Gem McCreary, visited Ann Arbor to advocate for high-potential Afro-descendant and Indigenous (ADI) young professionals from Latin America who were excelling on the GMAT and in their careers. Several months later, Bryan L. Johnson (Ross '02) would become the first Black MBA admissions officer from an elite business school to host a live in-person event focused on ADI prospective MBA Candidates in Brazil.? This was an inspiring engagement for many Black Brazilian young professionals who seldom saw someone who looked like them and who had walked the MBA path they dared to venture on.? On that evening, Bryan provided confidence and encouragement to apply to one of the top business schools in the world. Last year, Caio set the pace for the TalentoTotal GMAT Boot Camp, scoring a 700 on his first Official GMAT Exam and inspiring the rest of the class to aim high.? All of these small steps bore fruit this year when Caio Martins became the first TotalMBA Prep Fellow to be admitted to the Full-Time MBA program at Michigan Ross.? As a First-Year MBA Candidate at Michigan, Caio plans to leverage the Ross MBA and the leadership experience he gained at QuintoAndar as a data scientist to fundamentally modernize sports management in Brazil. As a part of the Ross community, Caio is not only excelling academically, but is also a member of the Black Business Students Association (BBSA), the Brazilian Business Student Association (BRASA), and the Sports Business Association.? As a Ross Student Ambassador, Caio is an exemplary advocate for diversity and a representative of Brazil who embodies the cultural and ethnic background of the majority of Brazil’s population.? With Caio’s presence in the classroom, professors and his peers benefit immensely from the unique perspective that he brings to the classroom each day. Held at the Global Hub, Kellogg’s flagship on the Evanston campus and home to the Full-Time MBA Program, the BMA Conference was a powerful and uplifting forum with a theme directly tied to TalentoTotal’s mission to increase the number of Afro-descendant and Indigenous (ADI) young professionals from Latin America at the world’s top Full-Time MBA programs. “In a world where our voices are often undervalued, ‘A Seat at the Table: Celebrating the Power of Every Voice’ is a transformative forum dedicated to ensuring everyone has the opportunity to be heard, represented, and empowered.” This year’s conference was truly transformative, emphasizing the importance of representation, empowerment, and ensuring every voice is heard.?
