Sometimes when I look back at the last 20 years in HR tech, I think we've lost sight of why we’re doing this. We’ve spent decades and untold millions of development dollars fine-tuning our measurement of HR metrics – effectively driving deeper understanding of the *what* – and approximately zero time and investment dollars focused on *why* the metrics matter. Here’s a simple analogy to illustrate what I mean: Let’s think of HR as a car. For the past twenty years, we’ve been perfecting our understanding of tire pressure, required timing for oil changes, fuel efficiency, transmission levels, engine temp, and even sophisticated comfort details like cabin temperature for the driver vs. for passengers. These are all worthy investments that improve the operation of the vehicle, the overall experience, and the cost of ownership. And in some cases, they are also super practical - I mean you can't drive the car if the tires are flat, right? But here's the problem – none of those metrics have anything to do with why you have the car. The *why* is getting you from point A to point B. All that other stuff is just a means to an end. To go from point A to point B, you need a whole different set of metrics:? first you need to know where to go, then you need to know current and future traffic conditions, whether there are accidents ahead, alternate routes and their relative costs, weather risks... Thankfully, with increasingly sophisticated GPS technologies that directly integrate into our car displays, we now have the insights and mapping we need to get from A to B more successfully. So in this analogy, what is the equivalent set of tech in strategic workforce and talent planning? ...crickets... We’re missing an entire category of technology related to strategic talent forecasting, skills-based strategic workforce planning, future skills modeling, scenario modeling, org modeling, talent-focused business planning, etc…??without which we can’t efficiently and confidently go from where we are to where we want to be. 99% of the tools and tech we use in HR are about execution. We have close to zero tooling on the actual planning and strategy, leaving execs and managers to figure it out in Excel and hope for the best. We're changing all of that. Since our acquisition of HR Forecast last October, we’ve been hard at work extending their best-in-class strategic workforce planning platform and deeply integrating it with our global labor market intelligence solutions, creating the world's first Workforce Transformation Suite. If?you agree with my sentiments above, and you want to get serious about Strategic Workforce Planning and Workforce Transformation, we have the tools you need - up and running, already in the hands of Fortune 2000 clients, and ready to rock and roll. So, let’s forget the last 20 years. The next two are about to be a lot more interesting…?#strategicworkforceplanning #talentneuron

Innovation is happening everywhere. Expand your skills to new roles in different industries. I shared my thoughts with Digiday below.
As AI remakes virtually every industry and everyone’s way of working, laid-off professionals in Big Tech are discovering that their skills are in hot demand in some of the most unexpected places — and HR people searching for tech talent are reaping the benefits. The tech industry continues reeling from layoffs. Last month, Meta followed through on its earlier promise by?cutting about 5% of its staff, or 3,000 employees, while Google said it would offer?voluntary buyouts to workers?in its platforms and devices unit, which employs about 25,000 people. Many of those displaced workers are landing on their feet in other fields, often for better positions and more money. In this piece by Tony Case, we speak to Danny Veiga, Sarah Bouzarouata of JLL, Elin Thomasian of TalentNeuron, and Drew Firment of Pluralsight.

?? Two Months In – The Ride Has Been Real?? Two months into this new role at TalentNeuron, and I can honestly say—this has been one of the best career moves I’ve made. I’ve always been drawn to the space where people, data and strategy collide, and now, I get to live and breathe it every day. And let me tell you, TalentNeuron has been making waves. ?? Some big moves in the last six months: ?? HRForecast Acquisition – Now we’ve got the first end-to-end strategic workforce planning platform, combining internal workforce data with external labor market intelligence. That’s a game-changer. ?? 40K+ Skills in Our Taxonomy – We expanded our skills database to over 40,000 curated skills, setting a new industry standard for workforce planning. ?? Advancing Diversity Data – Our insights into diversity representation across industries and geographies are helping companies go beyond talk and take real, data-backed action to build inclusive workforces. But honestly, what’s made this transition special is the people. The culture here thrives on curiosity, collaboration, and pushing the limits of what’s possible. Every day, I’m learning something new, working alongside some of the brightest minds in the space, and helping organizations make smarter, data-driven people decisions. Joining Julius B?hr’s team with Tania Humphrey and Alex Parker, and building on the incredible vision of Florian Fleischmann and Christian Vetter ????, has been a breath of fresh air.
