"I have a bachelor's degree in journalism and Latin American literature from San Diego State University. I've also earned professional certificates in translation and interpretation in education from the University of Georgia. " ?? What do you do as a translator in the District? "I'm a translator and interpreter for the San Ysidro School District, the southernmost school district in California. We right on the border. So we have a diverse student population. Many of our families need access to educational materials and meetings in Spanish. I'm an advocate for language access in my school district. As district translator and interpreter, I translate everything from simple school flyers to complex legal documents, including IEP and board policies. I interpret at different types of meetings, from school site council meetings to IEP and school board meetings." ??
