Decreasing stigma and increasing support for mental health among game makers and players.
关于我们
Our mission is to decrease the stigma, and increase the support for, mental health in the game enthusiast community and inside the game industry. Our Vision is a game community that welcomes and supports people experiencing mental health challenges, and that recognizes the humanity and mental health of game creators. The foundation of all of our work is the principle that hope is healing in the journey to mental wellness. Furthermore, - We normalize mental health challenges and recognize and honor intersectional experiences - We approach change and mental wellness broadly, from empowering individuals to enacting systemic change focused on leadership and cultural norms and practices - We foster healthy, inclusive community by focusing on collaboration and partnership - We take an evidence-based approach to our mental health content and programming We are a mental health advocacy organization with a focus on the game industry and community. We provide resources, training, and support individuals and companies that help the gaming community improve its mental well-being and resilience. We address the underlying conditions that can create and perpetuate mental health challenges: stigma, harmful studio culture, harassment and toxicity, lack of diversity and accessibility, and problematic game and community design. Specifically, this means that we: - Produce content that is intersectional and created by diverse voices - Foster safe, mental health-affirming, inclusionary, and harassment-free communities and industry environments - Promote inclusive and thoughtful game design practices

Accelerate fellow Percival is documenting his top 3 GDC talks of the day!
We're off to an exciting first day of the GDC! Today, a few of my favorite summits were happening simultaneously (UX! Narrative! Tabletop! Indie Games! Thriving in Games Group!) Which meant today was a great chance to see many a talk. Of the the ones I attended a few stood out to me for their quality, insight, and fun. I definitely finding them later on the GDC vault for folks who couldn’t make it: 1. Deep Yet Approachable: Designing the Combat Wheel in ‘Dragon Age The Veilguard’? from Bruno Porrio The talk covered the process of creating the wheel with all the hypotheses, wireframes, and big changes along the way. Seeing the detailed visual evolution of a UX system is always enjoyable and I particularly liked the chance to see wireframes and gameplay footage in different fidelities as the idea for the wheel became more streamlined and the system improved. 2. Writing ‘Tactical Breach Wizards’: How to String Out a Joke for 15 hours with from Tom Francis This talk was equal parts funny and insightful. The primary focus was on how to get the most out of a core comedic conceit but delved into a number of interconnected areas of design and comedy, highlighting how the efficiency of language, sincere character introspection, and even the way text appears on screen as tools to heighten the comedic tone of a game. 3. Designing to Scale: Optimizing Game UX for Cross-Platform Audiences from Jonathan Bieda This talk went into a number of key strategies for making a game work across platforms and talked about the process for how ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate’ was designed with the intention of being playable on everything from mobile to ultra widescreen PCs. The talk covered design strategies for templatizing screens to prevent lots of iteration work down the line, talked about the kinds of iconography that are readable across screen sizes, and went into detail on both the layout flow planning and how to shape the visual identity to suit its cross-platform medium. As someone who’s worked on cross-platform games in the past, I found that this talk did a fantastic job of identifying issues and workarounds in the space.?
