It's National College Application Month! On our Mentors and Milestones podcast, we talked with Take Stock Marion alum and mentor Marissa Brown about some common obstacles college-bound students face when applying to schools. In Marissa's experience as the Manager of Admissions & School Relations at the College of Central Florida, there are obstacles for some students, yet all students can get the resources they need through our Take Stock in College and Career program and the support of Florida’s colleges and universities – and our partners - like the College of Central Florida. Together, Take Stock and Florida’s postsecondary institutions will help you get into college and thrive. Smile, it’s Friday! It feels good to give back to your community and Take Stock in Children of Manatee County program grad Toddrick Pollock (2022) did just that with the alum’s community in light of Hurricanes Milton and Helene. Toddrick (pictured right) and his fraternity chapter, Theta Gamma, partnered with the Gamma Zeta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, to volunteer alongside Feeding Tampa Bay. The University of South Florida scholar’s team helped distribute essential food and resources to families affected by the storms, providing immediate relief to many in need. Toddrick also contributed perishable items collected by the scholar’s chapter to support Feeding Tampa Bay’s ongoing relief efforts. Team Manatee shared, “We are proud to see Toddrick embody the values of leadership and service, demonstrating the impact of the program grad’s time with Take Stock Manatee. Toddrick’s dedication to helping others is a powerful reminder of the difference our alumni continue to make in the world.” Thank you, Toddrick, for stepping up and giving back as an outstanding example for Take Stock Nation! #TakeStockinChildren #USF #HurricaneMilton #HurricaneHelene #TakeStockNation

Take Stock in College and Career scholar Emily Hernandez had a memorable Take Stock moment during the scholar's study abroad experience. The Take Stock Collier/The Immokalee Foundation (TIF) program grad is studying abroad in Seoul, South Korea, thanks to the Machen Florida Opportunity Scholarship Program at the University of Florida! Emily had a recent Take Stock reunion while studying in South Korea. Emily's Take Stock mentor, Angela, was traveling to Japan and seized the opportunity to reunite with Emily in Busan, South Korea. This is truly a testament to the unbreakable bond they created when they first started their mentor-mentee journey in 2020. The Mechanical Engineering major is thriving, and we're thankful for Emily's supportive network that shows up everywhere! #TakeStockinChildren #MentoringChangesLives
