关于我们
The Taft Museum of Art boasts a rich and ongoing legacy. The museum’s 200-year-old historic house was once home to notable Cincinnatians such as Nicholas Longworth and museum co-founders Anna Sinton Taft and Charles Phelps Taft. The one-of-a-kind landmark is now a destination of international cultural significance. Eight monumental landscape murals by Robert S. Duncanson, the first Black American artist to achieve global acclaim, adorn the walls of the museum’s foyer. The museum's collection of more than 800 objects includes important Chinese porcelains, European decorative arts, French Renaissance enamels, American furniture, and masterpiece paintings by Thomas Gainsborough, Francisco Goya, Rembrandt van Rijn, John Singer Sargent, J. M. W. Turner, and James McNeill Whistler. The Taft Museum of Art offers a unique, multi-sensory experience that immerses audiences in spaces to learn, create, and connect—within and beyond its walls. Visitors can enjoy special exhibitions, events, and programming for all ages, a beautiful outdoor garden, the Museum Shop, the Taft Café—and so much more. ICYMI: History is in the making with the Taft's 2025 Duncanson Artist-in-Residence Rich Robbins?? "This year, the Taft chose hip-hop as its guiding residency artistic discipline because hip-hop is more than entertainment. It is storytelling. It is protest. It is celebration. And above all, it is proof that culture created in struggle can redefine the world...During [the 2025] residency, Rich Robbins isn’t just putting on a show—he’s igniting a movement. Through a series of performances, deep-dive discussions, and hands-on workshops, he’ll tap into hip-hop’s power as both a creative expression and a catalyst for social change." — Soapbox Cincinnati Learn more about the exciting work being done by this year's Artist-in-Residence and his plans for his time in Cincinnati this April ?? https://lnkd.in/gnuJcS2J #TaftMuseumDiscovered #DuncansonArtistInResidence

Celebrate J.M.W. Turner's 250th birthday with an exhibition of rarely displayed watercolors ?? On view at the Taft March 1–June 15, 2025, 'J. M. W. Turner: Watercolor Horizons' is the first exhibition to bring together the entirety of the Taft Museum of Art and Cincinnati Art Museum's luminous works by Turner in this medium. Considered one of Britain’s greatest landscape painters, Turner (English, 1775–1851) was a master of the art of watercolor. A prolific artist and intrepid traveler, he was especially drawn to mountains, alpine lakes, glaciers, river valleys, and the sea, as well as the human presence within these dramatic settings. “'J. M. W. Turner: Watercolor Horizons' is a rare opportunity to see these treasures up close and in person. Each is filled with exquisite color and mind-blowing details that you can examine with magnifying glasses we’ll have in the gallery. Paired with a tea from the café or a family program, the Turner birthday experience at the Taft is one not to miss!” says the exhibition’s curator Tamera Lenz Muente.
